Im pondering about whether to ask for one for my birthday… havent had a handheld console since the orignal gameboy, so not sure it will be my thang… What sort of stuff can you do with them? and is it easy to “aquire” games?!
I was also looking in to picking one up on the cheap from ebay… is it worth paying £100 for one (basic unit) or should I get one legit with warranty etc?
Ta maj
August 7, 2006 at 9:46 am #31627DeicistParticipantif by ‘aquire’ you mean download then no, it’s a pain in the arse. You can apparently download games and play them from the memory stick, but doing so is a very hit and miss affair and depends what version firmware you’re running. LAter versions of the firmware are completely locked down so you pretty much can’t do anything that Sony doesn’t want you to. Other than that they’re quite funky and if there’s games that you like then I’d say get one…. but check what games are available first.
August 7, 2006 at 9:55 am #31628crazy hippoParticipanti have one but its got a more recent firmware so no “new” games will play.
that being said its still good fun. some good games on it, also i use it as a wireless internet connection when im in my living room. so i can browse the net while keeping the lady happy by “watching” eastbenders and all that shite!
August 8, 2006 at 7:47 am #31629TurksMeisterParticipantI bought one on ebay yestersay for £77 including P&P… appaerntly mint condition, but the dude I bought it off cancelled the payment, and now says he did it by mistake – is there a scam like that, or was he just a silly muppet?!
August 8, 2006 at 7:52 am #31630TurksMeisterParticipantAh… Paypal gave me the option to pay again…
This is what I got… just thought I could sell it on for more if I didnt like it – Never seen one so low before, even the ones with no extras.
(I was the only person to look at it! get in!)
So… What are the better games to go for? Might have an ebay perusal later

August 15, 2006 at 1:40 pm #31634TurksMeisterParticipantHe says he sent it four days ago… non insured, non signed… does this mean I am fucked/ripped off?
All he has to do is say it was lost in the post and its his word against the post offices… GRRRRRRRRRR!

I bought a digital camcorder from ebay not so long ago, 6.6mp 128mb onboard memory, firewire, the thing was the size of a large matchbox but boasted more power than the american justice league.
Any hoos, turns out the seller is a chinese dude, who while is in the UK runs a little import business. So he tells me “yah missa Won Smawhousen your camma is sent”
3 weeks later I am still waiting.
“ok missa Won Smawhousen I send one mor camma”
i get the camera, it’s purple. … not manly dark purple, light fragrant sissy purple
it’s takes 3.3mp pictures they would be 6.6.mp if its interpolated with software I dont have.
the firewire, is a wire, it neither pugs into the camera, nor into anywhere on my PC, it does plug into the bathroom shave socket but it smells funny when you do this, it runs on 4 AA batteries, new ones, yeah – it runs on them for about 8 mins.the other day the view screen fell off and now hangs by a wire.
moral: ebay you get what you pay for. an unpoliced den of racketeers who prey on your david dickinson instincts to get that bargin.
August 15, 2006 at 4:00 pm #31638TurksMeisterParticipantPhew… I am now full of hope!
I suppose the good thing is… whilst your Mr Wong is 10,000 miles away…
My seller is called Brian Allen
His phone number is on the ebay page
his sign in name gives me his date of birth
and apparently he lives in Oxted, Surry…I can make him my bitch if I want to
August 15, 2006 at 7:25 pm #31639To0THBRU5HParticipantHAHAHAH!!! YOU BOUGHT SOMETHING OVER A TENNA FFROM EBAY?!?! LMAO
August 15, 2006 at 8:02 pm #31640LensmanParticipantMake sure you give him a shit feedback rating, as at least that may help stop others buying off the guy.
I’m a bit of an ebay novice myself, but I’m sure there is some knd of complaint procedure that you can follow – or is that that the 10 day thing you mentioned?
For £7 he should at least have proof of postage – I assume he at least sent it recorded delivery. It may not be insured, but at least there is proof it went to the post office.
Find out off him the exact type of postage he used.
