i know they also do a 512mb card but for my resolution 1280×1024 its probably overkill and a bit more than i want to spend on an interim fix until i can afford a complete overhaul of my system.
What are people’s experience with this card ? I’ll be using it for BF2142 and maybe quake wars enemy territory. What rating of PSU will i need to power this ? I’m not sure what rating my current one is as i can’t see the label unless i take it apart and i can’t be arsed at the mo………..pharty may be able to tell me as it was his old pc sometime back.
I’m currently running a 6800GT on a pentium 4, 3.2ghz (not sure what core) with 1Gb of ram.

ParticipantI have a asus ati1950 pro, upgraded from atix850. On my Pc(amd x2 3800+, 2gb ram ) I can now run it at 1440 x 960, 4 aa and most other settings on high and frame rate is awesome.
I do think another 1gb of ram will help your systemMay 31, 2007 at 11:19 am #52735Seedubs
ParticipantI was thinking of upgrading too, but decided against it as I figured I would need the whole system doing and as I only have an AGP slot there would be nothing on the gc front worth bothering with, but looking at this maybe its worth it, I currently have an AMD XP3200, ATI XT850 2 Gig DDR 400.
Would I see a noticable difference in anything with that card instead of my current one? I was thinking probably not, but from what you have posted………………………??

ParticipantPersonally I’d hold fire for the moment WET. Going from a 6800 to a 1950pro isn’t a massive jump and the ATI card will soon be very out of date. If I were you I’d only be looking to buy components that I could migrate across to my next PC, which in your case should be a dual core system with PCI-E.
Unfortunately AGP is a bit of a dead-end, so I’d personally invest the money elsewhere.

ParticipantNice price, but the other is AGP. Me too, not planning on upgrading for at least 10 months – so a quick fix for £100 might help mine – I am crawling along!!
