Been playing FEAR (for a couple of hours) and suddenly the PC shuts down with no warning. Just dies on me. The fact it’s just gone dead makes me think it’s overheated, so I leave it 20 minutes and then try to boot it again, and although it powers on and the fans start up it just goes dead on me again after a couple of seconds.

The PC doesn’t get to the boot screen or anything.

The chip is a 775 Pentium D 820. It’s not overclocked and I’m pretty sure that the mobo was set to power down if the CPU gets too hot.

    Fried CPU or something else?

Disregard above. Looks like a dodgy electric socket. If you don’t get any more posts from me I’ve been electrocuted. 😉

hehe. Dont forget that if the CPU fan isnt connected properly or gets borked the computer will also shut itself down. But that doesnt matter as you’ve found the problem pink boy
