been fannying aroung with my camera trying to do some astrophotography with me (puts on nerd glasses) telescope and just decided to take some of the night sky without the scope. My old man has a rose trelis so i decided to leave the camera on the floor looking up. The result is pretty nice and almost unreal looking. See what you think:

What exposure were you on?
heres the thing. I wasnt on any particular exposure setting. I have a canon Eos350 and decided to experiment with the “auto everything/without flash” setting. focussing manually before I put the camera down. I bought one of them remote switches so i dont have to touch the camera once its set up. I’d calculate about 20 seconds exposure or slightly less.
Same camera as I’ve got.
If you look at the metadata on the image from either Photoshop or the Canon supplied software, it will tell you exactly what settings it chose.
give it another go and up the aperture to 32 to get the flowers and the sky in focus – you will probably need to expose for over a minute on this setting
great great shot as it is.
problem probably has more to do with the fact that I probably didnt focus it properly as you can imagine it was pretty damned dark and I couldnt put my head on the floor at the level to manually focus. so realy thats down to human error.
Also had to decide which subject demanded more attention and I chose the stars.
