ParticipantLo folks,
Like a complete idiot I’ve just bought an Archos 5 Internet Tablet, The idea was to have someting to load all the kids movies on to and take on holiday. It runs an old version of Android 1.6
However it seems that, whilst it claims to be an Internet Tablet, it won’t do Youtube or Iplayer!!! which is really anoying as it was 3 x the price of the second hand ipod touch i bought which does it perfectly 😕
Anyhoo, can anyone recomend a good (and ligitimately paid for) DVD to divx or avi convertor so I can save some face and load it up with the movies that I have. (it has a 160 gb hard drive so I can gel a lot of media on it)
The Archos is good for Jr Haxors, I even managed to get Linux running on it, but as I’m now old and slow, I really cant be arsed to learn a new thing, so any advice on getting Youtube ot Iplayer to run on it would be most appreciated (i have now restored it to run android again as it was starting to make my brain hurt)
I even find posting this post a huge brain drain……..
…. I’m off to have a bit of a lie down

ParticipantHey spugs.
I will only tell you if you get back online and play with us! 😀
Nah – only kidding.
I am not an expert on this stuff – but I have converted films to play on my mobile so I think I know what you need.
Download this…

it is free. Simpleish to use. Once you have it set up you can just keep re-using yours settings for all your films.
I needed to convert all mine to MPEG4 – but it will certainly do AVI for you too.
Job done.
Ohhh – it is free by the way.

KeymasterSimpleish to use
😆 (Unless they’ve made a newer user friendly version). IIRC it wasn’t even simple to find a download link for it, at least via the previous link provided on this site for it. Excellent wee program though.

ParticipantThanks for the advice (apart form Turks) I’ll give handbrake a look.
I’ll try and get on line some time to prove to myself that I’m still rubbish, currently waiting for 1943 to hit the PC
Are their any other DVD ripping progs that are easy to use?
