Alright lads,
As some of you know In the past I’ve been running an iMac in dual boot to run games. This was fine up to BF3 and I missed the fun of BF4. With the advent of BF1 I’ve had to take some man pills and get into the murky world of PC’s… 😯
I don’t have a fakkking clue, I mean, at all… My mac is an i7 thingy, and it makes pretty things etc.. I literally don’t know a thing about PC specs…
So…
Firstly budget : £700
Secondly : used, new, ebay, self build?, where to buy?
Thirdly : spec? Millions of choices…
I could research this myself but I’m a lazy jock, so spec me biaaaatchesss yeaaaaa 8)

I’m going to guess that from your mess of an apple “PC” that you can’t salvage the PSU or case? Pretty sure they’d be designed only to fit steve jobs’ cock (or pay £10k for an upgrade), but I’ve not googled it 😉
September 27, 2016 at 6:21 am #87685bmstalkerParticipantI’ll take a look tonight. Do you need to fit mouse/keyboard/monitor/os into this or simply just the of components?
September 27, 2016 at 6:06 pm #87686bmstalkerParticipantRight, as a first draft, here we go. Obviously as you’re buying components, you can adjust along with your budget to fit your needs but this will play every PC game on the market, at full graphical detail, at 1080p/60fps easy.
This assumes a self build and does not include delivery.
Mobo/CPU combo:

£283.99Graphics Card:

£239.99Case:

£34.99Total: £699.92
Now, if you can stretch a little further, for a more rounded system, I would add an extra 8GB of the same RAM for about £35 and bump up the SSD to 480GB for about £40 but that’s just a convenience thing. You could go for a cheaper case and PSU to free up a little cash but that’s personal preference, I tend to buy a good branded psu as if that fails, it can take other components with it.
Also, not included an OS, but you can get a hold of that pretty easy, you can get them here:

Or if you have a buddy with technet sub you can bag one there, I’m pretty low on keys or I’d give you one of mine.
Happy for anyone to post alternate setups/criticisms.
September 27, 2016 at 6:10 pm #87687bmstalkerParticipantAlso, if you’re happy with 2nd hand, you’d be surprised what you can get on the cheap. Managed to bag a monster PC a year ago (which I since sold on to Matt) for a ridiculous price. Guy had listed it on gumtree for £700, talked him down to £500. The CPU on it’s own cost £500, I could have stripped it and sold it for £800 the next day had I wanted to.
If you’re looking, an i5 is more than capable of gaming, although i7 is nice to have. The following graphics cards are a minimum I’d look for (all Nvidia Geforce)
780 Ti, 970, 980, 1060.
RAM, 8GB is workable but RAM is so cheap, grab 16.
Try to get an SSD, worth every penny.
Everything else doesn’t really matter.
September 27, 2016 at 6:38 pm #87688crazy hippoParticipantout of interest is the radeon 480 not a better card than the 1060?
September 28, 2016 at 11:33 am #87689xdcmaniacParticipantThanks Stalker. I’m actually thinking I’ll buy the fucker built tbh. Looked at Ebay and such like, and seems there’s value, but fuck knows what perverted shit the unit’s been through… #jizzykeyboards

It appears the 1060 is better. on paper for £200, the RX480 is nice but it means upping the power supply as the cards are pretty hungry, it’ll put more head in the case and I generally think the 1060 is a better card.
