I recently installed steam on my mac mini to see if there was anything that i could actually play on it and found that there is a mac version of day of defeat, counter strike and red orchestra!
I installed them all and they play pretty well considering the MM is just using the intel Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB for powering the gfx. It’s actually been great to get back into a FPS and have a blast, makes me realise how much i’m missing gaming on the PC.
Now, until i’m ready to build/buy my next gaming rig which i’ve discussed on the other thread, would anyone know what games i could run on the MM using the Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB if i was to utilise the boot camp facility and install my copy of winXP on it? Would something like BF42 be viable for example?
May 15, 2013 at 1:06 pm #85058AlzirKeymasterSorry to disappoint but this is a game I iust couldn’t ever force myself to play, though I was late in getting it. I’ll keep an eye out for nom on steam though, as he might be up for a few games with you. Unless you’re pc is ridiculously old, it should run bf42 though. It’s free these days through origin.

May 16, 2013 at 3:24 pm #85060XDC wild egg tamerParticipanthad a look on origin but BF42 is only available to download on the PC though i still have my original version so providing i install windows on the mac i should be able to play it. RO is fine for now, gives me some fun until i’m ready to sort a pc out 🙂
May 16, 2013 at 5:44 pm #85061AlzirKeymasterIs there not something you can install on a mac which emulates windows? I’m sure maniac used to talk about it?
May 16, 2013 at 6:16 pm #85062XDC wild egg tamerParticipantyup there is, the built in app is called bootcamp or you can use a 3rd party prog to do the same thing. You then install a version of windows on it and voila you can then run windows proggies like BF42 etc as normal.
May 16, 2013 at 6:50 pm #85063AlzirKeymasterWell if you’ve not got that installed yet, get on it and we’ll get some wing walking, jeep races, and loop the loops on gazala, on the go asap 🙂

didnt really have the feel of the original RO, bear in mind i played the original mod which makes ROHOS feel like COD in terms of realism. ROHOS felt a bit rushed, trying to cater to all player types took away from the game imo. Tbh i have played it again in the last few weeks (knowing RS was coming) and it played smoother and has obviously been tweeked and Campaign mode id fucking epic 😀
RS is just smoother, weapons are terrific and the auto’s of the US balance well with the mortar/banzai charges of the Japs. The flame thrower makes you shit yourself..fecking evil. I always play rifleman but have used the Bar and smgs. Maps seem to
be where it shines, well thought out, great looking and a coordinated team can win. The jungle foliage reminds me a bit of one of the vietnam games…quality.I am out of keys (will see if i can get more) but if you have ROHOS, the beta of RS is a steal.
A truly stunning addon. 😀
