Has anyone tried a Zboard?
I’ve got my son a pc for Crimbo, and apparantly these keybaords are the bees knees for gaymers, so I’m thinking about getting him one. I’d be interested in knowing a few people’s opinions before I splash out.December 3, 2006 at 2:08 pm #40909PoD1st-BWParticipantquality seems to be horrible
in 1st-BW they started buying those things in the BF42 days, but they fell apart after a few weeksDecember 3, 2006 at 2:26 pm #40910XDCOldPhartParticipantI have one standing next to my dustbin. I replaced it yesterday. The gaming keys are unusable, and the normal keys have started playing up. It is only about 6 months old. They are not worth the money. I would send it to you but the normal keypad is buggered.
I have just bought a Logitech G15 gamers keyboard, and so far it seems fine. Solid build quality etc. It has about 15 keys that can be bound for various games, but may be over the top for yer lad. I think they cost about £50 – £70.

Great for gaming, crap for ordinary typing. I would never go back to an ordinary keyboard. No issues over quality – used the bf2 keyset for 12 months solid and no probs. Just dont expect to type anything meaningful with it. Even with the ordinary keyset in.

December 4, 2006 at 6:51 pm #40914tessParticipantSo that’s 3 for and 2 against? I’m tempted, though the wee fecker doesn’t deserve anything for Christmas at all, so he’s doing bloody well gettting a pc never mind a zboard as well!! I’m bidding on one on EBay, cos I’m broke and not wanting to spend a bloody fortune!!

December 5, 2006 at 2:22 pm #40916VicJamesonParticipantHaha, she won the auction. Hope it doesn’t fall to bits in the post 😆
December 5, 2006 at 3:00 pm #40917tessParticipantI got a really good one on ebay – brand new with 2 additional keypads (Everquest II and Doom 3) and a gaming keypad and the normal one, all delivered to my door for £35 😀
Need to buy Everquest II and Doom 3 now 😆December 5, 2006 at 7:22 pm #40918TurksMeisterParticipantDont think everquest 2 was all that it was “cracked” up to be…
…see what I did there?!
December 5, 2006 at 9:22 pm #40919airmessyParticipantMy z board is fine. With the typing thing i just change it back to the normal keyset when i am reading forums.
I have had it for well over a year now and i have not had a spot of trouble with it.
December 5, 2006 at 9:40 pm #40920AnonymousParticipantTried 1 at a trade show back when they were first starting to market them… EGN I think or some other …. but anyways they look nice and sound cool, but they’re toss tbh and nothing a sticker on a normal keyboard couldn’t beat. The idea of foldable/replaceable keys is nice, but the execution fails to deliver… oh and they don’t work in Mac OS X or XP x64-bit =/ For less thna that Tess(tickles!) you could have gotten a Saitek Eclipse like mine… well like the 1 my dog broke last night hehe… really cool blue glow and you can see the letters as you type in the dark 😀
December 5, 2006 at 11:02 pm #40921tessParticipantOh shit, I never thought to check that it is Vista compatible, and I thought it was definitely XP compatible, now I’m worried 🙁
Vic says I must have tickled your fancy for you to call me tess(tickles)Legit 😆

I can conferm that the board works on Vista BUT the software for the Zboard doesnt.Whichever keyset you put on (gaming ones) it will think its just the standard one.
Hopefully Zboard will bring the Vista drivers/software out soon. -
