XDC wild egg tamer
ParticipantMost of my apps are work based so i have things like iFlight UK to tell me arrival times at the fliers (Heathrow airport)tweetcaster to keep in touch with other cabbies on twitter and ATM finder to search out the elusive cash points when peeps have no cash.
Non work related i play angry birds to pass some time as well as laser reflector and robo defense. SMS bomb is fun to annoy the fuck out of people with multiple SMS messages and shazam is good to suss out what a particular music track is when out and about. Tunein radio is good for finding internet radio stations and double twist is a good all round media player. I’ve tried winAMP but didn’t find it done anything different than other players except it had an equaliser (useful i guess if you know how to use them).
I find myself using convertpad quite often as it has an extensive category selection including enthalpy, entropy and length – all useful when in the cab, the amount of times i’ve discussed thermodynamic processes you wouldn’t believe! 😉
You can use an app called chrome to phone which allows you to send web links directly to your phone from your chrome browser with one click. Color flashlight is a simple app that makes the screen go white (or any other colour) and is useful for finding things in the dark when you don’t have a torch to hand.
appbrain allows you to sync all apps etc with a browser, and manage all your content from there without the need to connect your phone with a usb cable. Gmote lets you stream music from your pc to your phone and also allows you to start music on your laptop.
There’s some others but that will keep you busy for a while 😉

Participantyup, it came as standard on the galaxy S, i managed to get onto the beta for it so have it running on my N1.
I forgot to mention the sky app, it allows you to record stuff on your sky+ remotely so is handy if you’re out or away and find out something is on that you want to watch.
Take a look at http://www.xda-developers.com/ click on the forums tab and scroll down until you find your phone. These guys are the best when it comes to cooked roms. It may mean rooting your phone (though there is an app somewhere that allows my phone to be rooted without invalidating the warranty so there may be something similar for yours) but it opens up a whole new World with regards phone interfaces.

Participanti can recommed the one click lag fix for the galaxy s.. speeds your phone up to insane standards
oh turks I think if you install Skyfire on the iPhone you can have some flash experience

ParticipantOK – I am buying a new phone for xmas. What d’yall think?
I want android… but am a bit put off from the galaxy by being stuck with their UI – would rather plain android so I can get updates straight away.
Any suggestions? I aint spending the money on the new google phone coming out…. too much.

ParticipantThe new HTC’s are excellent

Participantif you want clean android without the whole propriety UI then your best best is either the new nexus S (which you say is too much) or else get your hands on the nexus 1 which is about a year old now but is still more than capable. Another option is to get one of the latest handsets such as the galaxy S and then root it, go to http://www.xdadevelopers.com and install a custom rom.

Participantwet – what rom are you running on your gal s??
have you found a pure android rom?
doc – i am not sure what makes the gal s different from a nex 1 but the ui is very nice.

Participanti’ve got the nexus 1, not the Gal S. I’m running froyo at the mo but i think gingerbread should be out shortly.
I think the main difference from N1 to GS is that N1 runs stock android where as GS runs sense UI by HTC.
