I will be getting it.
We need to see how this goes, because if it proves popular, we will need to rethink the server setup. Either RO or BF may need to make room……..and as I think both games suck, I am indifferent as to which one goes…………..
/Can of worms

Wish i had played the demo first before i bought the game…there’s far too many keys for me to remember! 🙄
February 18, 2007 at 11:43 am #45727XDCiNSANEParticipantLike RO.. I’m sure it will take time to get used to.. I’m kinda gerrin used to the keys.. I need to download the multiplayer demo to see what its like online 😀

The game’s got loads of potential, but I think it won’t hit its mark until it’s been patched once or twice. All the enemy we encountered were like Max – you emtied a clip at them as they lay on the ground 500m away, but two shots later and you’re dead.
Looks good, but I can see it being a bit of a bastard on multiplayer.

It took me an hour or so to get back into it but it’s not been too bad for me because I played Ofp for years. I’m only 4 or 5 missions into the main campaign and I’m comfortably getting 15 kills a mission. All of a sudden you’ll get it and then it becomes a lot easier.
Shoot the enemy officers first because they mark targets for their squad with binoculars and they’ll spot your fire and target you for their squad members.
By the way, I thought the graphics were pretty good considering that you can drop yourself anywhere onto a huge island and see for miles in every direction.

are you taking the prevailing wind in to consideration?

Well I did have a spicy pizza, but I didn’t feel that bad.
To be honest we were just playing around with the game to try and work out its limitattions, so we just stuck to the single missions and the mission editor. My mate was saving the campaign game for when he had a spare afternoon and a few beers to fuel him on.
Graphically I can’t really fault the game as I think it’s meant to be a simulator rather than a eye-candy experience. Really, it’s just a product improved version of OFP, which I can see still being installed on my HD in about 4 years time.

Whoa there buckaroo! Whilst I think a ArmA is going to be much more of an XDC type game, I wouldn’t change things just yet. I know that a lot of us won’t have machines capable of running the game at a decent setting at the moment.
February 19, 2007 at 12:46 pm #45732XDCiNSANEParticipantI cant see it taking over RO or BF2142 .. theres more keys than a jail workers keyring and its 1 shot 1 kill with skill needed.. so theres the RO haters off the scene already
I tried Multiplayer.. it was umm.. slightly crap.. lots of glitches and It took me ages to figure out why the fuck I was a seagul :/ .. I still didnt figure it out, I just went on a different server :/
February 19, 2007 at 3:30 pm #45733RyzoParticipantomfg Seagull mode?! *buys*
February 20, 2007 at 3:00 am #45734nOmParticipantplayed a couple of hours of the mp demo….both ctf and cti…cti is fun but damn hard…hope in the retail they have improved performance though 😥
February 20, 2007 at 6:58 am #45735XDCMADMAXParticipantcant say Ill be rushing out to buy this one.

if the retail of arma is fixed or optimized better than the demo i might buy it, playing capture the island (cti) is awsome fun, the islands are huge, the number of dead ai bodies lying around was in the hundreds, if they can get the number of real players around the hundred or so mark it will be an awesome game 🙂

The ArmA demo was buggy and laggy. The released game is much better and they seem to have optimised the performance of the engine. Still needs a beast of a machine to get the most out of it though.
