from what I uncerstand the hacking of our site also led to the taking down of some of our great site providers commercial sites as well, hence the new security drive!

If a hacker wants to hack us they will likely be able to get in some way or another – living in constant fear and reducing the utility of the things we use / changing our behaviour to ‘safe ‘ mode is…… well…. i guess its just a good allegory for modern life post 9/11 actually 😥

When someones business intrests are at stake (I beleive he has lost clients due to the hacking via VWar) I think it only sensible to avoid these sort of plug ins until he can be sure of the security, Kind of like you saying “well you’re going to die at some point anyway, so you might as well carry on smoking drinking and driving at ludicrously high speeds”

erm well actually wolf I DO say that – in a roundabout way. I regularly put my life at risk in a variety of ventures with that philosophy in mind 🙂 i think smoking is stupid for sure… but then I thought surfing was stupid this morning as i got dragged along some rocks and thrown from a great height onto a beach while surfing waves that were too big for me.

The site could be hacked… betting plug in or no betting plug in. Im just saying maybe its a better philosophy to chill out a bit over these things.

Although the site had slowed down considerably prior to it dissappearing, which I thought was attributed to somebody running a phishing scam from one of the servers. The slowdown happened at least two weeks before the crash.The guys who hacked us were some religious whackos who played Ogame though weren’t they?

I think our site is always at risk from hackers – it being a gaming site – what if we beat a clan full of Jahovas witnesses at BF2 – They would hack our site to shit… so
Why dont we move the site to a different provider to Magickers other ventures – that way there will be no financial backlash to him if things get nasty.
Unless you got some kind of crazy cheap deal with the current one…
