Well doc, Legit revealed the end of one of the most hotly anticipated TV series in recent years just as it was airing on normal channels. Only people who would have seen it on the net would have known the ending. Knowing the interest shown in Heroes on this forum it was a silly and malicious thing to do.
I revealed the end of a fifty year old novel (an end incidently which is not a twist but anticpated through the book) which in the sequence of posts was written before Neon’s recommendation. That was unfortunate and had I seen Neons post I probably wouldnt have posted.
Given that the discussion of the plots of all books and films regardless of age is now off limits perhaps you would like to provide us with a list of those you have seen or read so we can all avoid the same forum faux pas and incurring the wrath of Doc?
Of course it’s normal not to give away endings to anything and that’s fair enough but having read “I Am Legend” I can stick up for Wipers here.
Within the first 5 pages of “I Am Legend” it’s obvious that the lead character is totally fucked and he’s not getting out alive. In fact throughout the book the bloke seems to go out of his way to try and get himself killed out of sheer hopelessness of his situation. He’s completely alone, barricaded into a house surrounded by vampires who want to kill him. He pretty much announces to the reader straight away that he’s waiting to die.
So Wipers saying that he cops it is not a spoiler in itself. What actually happens is really not that important because the book isn’t really about vampires at all, it’s about his state of mind given that he’s completely up shit creek without a paddle and he knows it.
Good book, that trailer looks like somebody who read the back blurb of it and missed the fucking point by about 10 million miles. Although I wasn’t particularly impressed by Charlton Hestons take on it either it looks a damn sight more like it than this one.
Someone give me some money and I’ll make a proper version. Eeh dear, if you want something doing properly eh?!

……………….I cant believe I seem to be losing what seems to me to be a very clear cut argument.
I feel like Im insulting peoples intelligence here by stating the bloody bleeding obvious… but these are ‘the facts’ as I see them.
Telling someone the end of a book is a spoiler… it doesent matter what things look like at the start – there are things called plot twists… which by definition YOU DONT FUCKING EXPECT AT THE START OF NOVELS! I dont give a crap how obvious you think it is now in retrospect…. I find it hard to believe that this book gave you a cast iron 100% guarantee of the ending within 5 pages. Even if it did….. dont just expect everyone else to have the same insight as yourself!
The simple fact is that I will NOT read this book now because I know far too much about it… ok, its not the end of the world… seriously I am not going to cry about it
but I will be damned if I am going to walk away from the point of principle involved. I could tell you the end of Moby Dick or Pride and prejudice and argue that you should have known all along………. they are over a hundred years old noob! Would that be right?
The most ironic thing here is that when Legit got abused for spoiling some crappy TV series that I personally didnt really give a shit about he came up with really lame arguments along the lines of… it was obvious what was going to happen, you could spot the clues miles off…. blah blah blah. Why Wipers is getting off with saying pretty much the same thing is beyond me!
Anyways…. just say you are sorry wips and I will forgive you 😆

lol come on.. even I knew he died without even knowing there was a book or the film was based on one.. the title alone says he dies.. Only those that are dead become legends.. if he didnt die, I’d expect the book/film to be called
“I AM Alive at present (but depending on how the book ends, I could become a Legend) “

Doc I don’t really have anything to add. You are massively over reacting to something trivial and given the sequence of posts and timings as I’ve explained I don’t feel I have anything to apologise for.
Your reaction and the fact that I’ve been called an ‘idiot’, ‘stupid’ and compared to Legit in the space of 3 of your posts says alot doc.

Well yes, I would agree with that. Over time literature seeps into the public conscious through popularity, adaptations, references. The plot of the novel moves into the public domain. But this should never diminish the power of a good book. The fact that I know what happens at the end of Moby Dick would never put me off reading the novel because i know its strengths would lie in use of language and characterisation.
