    LOL

Having a sixth finger must be very useful for Medimax!

Nice find there Mugworth and if it is true then well said to the Aussie PM. Those crazy Aussies don’t mince their words, and a prime example of this is Old Phart.

But mocking fellow XDC’ers aside for a moment, this has all been brewing for the past 20 years, and what started as a trickle of critiscm has become a flash flood. People are just saying what they’ve been thinking for years, after political correctness has been stifling free speech to protect minorities.

70’s and 80’s weren’t a great time for being a minority in the UK, so programs to intergrate immigrants into our society were a good idea. To a large extent they have worked and that’s great, mainly because we’ve all met each other half way. The people of the UK have changed and don’t have the same views regarding race that we had 50 years ago.

The trouble is now that we’ve had diversity, political correctness and understanding others rammed down our throats so much that we all accept it to one degree or another, so that when a section of our society decide that they are above such behaviour we start pointing fingers.

Whilst I have a certain sympathy with some of the article there are some serious alarm bells ringing at the reactionary tone of the piece.

As usual a quick bit of research uncovers a bit more meat to the bone..

First, how many Muslims are there in Oz… only approx 281,600 out of a population of 19 Million – do the maths. Hardly hordes… and lets assume the majority are decent law abiding types (not an unreasonable assumption)

“This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to
dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.”

The usual reactionary right wing bollocks… coveniently overlooking the immigrant history of a country made up of 70+ ethnic groups.

“Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.”

Whose interpretation of a Christian God is that then? Catholics? Anglicans? Protestants? Orthodox? Mormons (Ha!)? Pentecostal? Jehovah’s Witnesses? Churches of Christ? Seventh-day Adventists? Brethren? Apostolic?

What about the 2.8 Million – atheist/ agnostics?

“We will accept your beliefs and will not question why, all we ask is that you accept ours and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.”

    Fair enough.

“This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. “

I’m sure the Aborigines have been saying the same thing for the last 200 years.

Beware reactionary toss hidden under chest-thumping patriotism… for here lyeth the path towards the Daily Mail.

Well said Milo. Substitute ‘jew’ every time you see a headline with ‘muslim’ in it and things start getting scarily familiar…

Nice to see you back online m8 🙂
