Each to their own mate. I think it helps if you have read the book beforehand, although not exactly the same, at least the book gives you the overall story idea so the ending isnt quite a shock. It is definately a must see. Plus what else is there to see……Compass isnt the book either, a little bland too.

I wasn’t expecting much after read everyone’s comments, so maybe that helped. Had very little expectation of it being any good, and kinda expected it to be a typical Will Smith film, him doing cheesy one-liners, kicking donkey and all the rest, but I kinda liked how he went all a bit mad after a few years of no human contact and what happened to his family. Liked it for it not being your typical vampire type flick which is what I think everybody else in the cinema wanted going on the comments afterwards of how rubbish it was as nothing ever happened and he should’ve killed them all. IF you wanted that, just go watch Resident Evil again.
7/10January 2, 2008 at 12:58 pm #60958XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantWell I really liked the first two thirds of the movie. It was kinda slow and dwelled on his loneliness, although for my money that dummy he tried hitting on was waaay out of his league. So going by the pacing and how they’re carefully covering the outbreak, but not going into much detail I thought this film would be about 100+ minutes long, particularly having read the book and noticing how some of the infected were not quite as thick as some of the others.
So after such a setup I thought the ending was pants. Big yellowing pants with snapped elastic waistband. That’s how pants the ending was, particularly as it ended so suddenly.
Also, did anyone notice scenes from the trailer that weren’t in the film? i.e. Neville filling up his car with a hand-pump, the lioness roaring at him and (most importantly) two of the infected flanking him as he stands still and they shout in his ears. I reckon they were going to do something more like the ending in the book, but decided on an alternate ending.
Plus I was annoyed at god turning up after everything’s gone wrong, whispering something in somebody’s ear and then taking all the credit. I mean, he picks his moments doesn’t he, making me wonder if somebody else was in charge they might have tried to save the human race, rather than just a couple of people. From now on I’m worshiping a decent god, like Thor or Odin.

January 3, 2008 at 7:44 am #60960XDCiNSANEParticipantAye… thought that meself.. maybe thats for an unrated venture.. maybe we should sue them for false advertising… I only went to see the film for that bit!
Still.. ould be worse, could be a film called “I am Legend sat playing COD4 Ranked all night whilst crazy mutated folk are outside”
January 6, 2008 at 3:01 pm #60961XDC_WolfParticipantThe single worst film I saw last year. The only bonus was I watched it on a download so I didn’t give any of my money to Will Smith. Seriously appaling tripe.
February 22, 2008 at 8:59 am #60962xdc the docParticipantJust saw this tonight (we are a bit behind on cinema schedules up here.) Loved the film! Very impressive CGI effects showing an empty new york, well shot action sequences and the plot seemed reasonably well fleshed out from what I could see. Whats everyones problem! 🙂
February 22, 2008 at 9:46 am #60963XDCiNSANEParticipantI suppose it would look good to those that start fires by rubbing 2 sticks together! 😆
February 23, 2008 at 5:48 pm #60964XDCMorganParticipantI watched it ages ago……. and I liked it. Have read the book before aswell and was happy the way they brought it into modern day.
