December 8, 2006 at 12:26 am #41028XDC_WolfParticipantAs a rule I get out of the way of motorcyclists, but the other week one REALLY pissed me off, I was overtaking someone on the A50 and I was doing 80-90 MPH, I was actually overtaking aout 6 cars and a lorry (it’s dual carriage way) and my car doesn’t go much faster. I look in my rear view mirro and see a motorcycle appear at speed (about 120mph) and come up right behind me. Now I was about halfway past the line of traffic and there was no safe space for me to move over into and as I was actually doing over the speed limit I thought it wouldn’t matter to let him sit behind me for the 30 or 40 seconds it would take to get past the cars so I could pull over safely and let him pass. This motor cyclist then starts flashing his light and gesticulating to me and coming so close behind me that I had to try and speed up.
I will do myu upmost to let motorcyclists through when it is safe to, but I WILL NOT be gesticulated to as an order to move over when that is MY judgement call only. TBH I feel like being a bastard to motorcyclists from now on because of this tosser, but I understand that not all of them are like that.
Legit, if you are 23 then I seriously think you should downgrade your engine size regardless of how safe a driver you think you are, your insurance is always going to be sky high and even if it’s never your fault, travelling at those speeds will more than likely kill you if something small goes wrong. I have known more than a couple of people who have had their lives cut short due to reckless speeds on motorcycles, and each one proclaimed themselve to be safe drivers/cyclists (whatever you sub genre of petrol heads call yourselves).
Bikes are bloody dangerous, not because the riders have a blatant disergard for the law/danger (although from what I have witnessed that is almost a criteria for obtaining a licence) but because they are hard to spot whilst whistling past on the INSIDE (as far as I am aware illegal in this country) as well as the fact that power to weight means fuck all when you have no roll cage, or even a shell to protect you, just a helmet and your skull.
Didn’t mean to turn this into a rant, but TBH despite your protestations if you carry on with the attitude you have you will be dead, and then it will be your family and friends apportioning the blame as you won’t be around to have that luxury.
December 8, 2006 at 12:58 am #41029TurksMeisterParticipantDid you go faster to let him past? Think I would have slowed down personally… “Im bigger than you – fucker!”
I saw a great scene last year, when a small car failed to let a Chelsea tractor through (small cars right of way)… the tractor driver, started honking like mad, and making lots of naughty genstures to the small car… basically being a pain in the arse… so little car driver slows from 30 to about 10 miles per hour, and crawls past… to a tirade of honks and screeches… It was a great site to behold… makes my willy quiver just thinking about it.
December 8, 2006 at 2:18 am #41030XDC_WolfParticipantthat’s what pissed me off was that I tried but really couldn’t go any faster, i gave him the “bird” though when he went past!
December 8, 2006 at 10:11 am #41031AnonymousParticipantBikes are only dangerous because of every other bugger on the road ๐ I can see why he would blink his lights, sometimes people don’t see you coming – if you don’t have the right gear/power to overtake then shouldn’t be overtaking hehe, but I guess you would have got past the lot eventually ๐ Sure riding like a crazy fool would mean instant death on the bike should an accident occur, but being seen and heard greatly reduces the chance of the accident occuring to start with. I’ll die on my bike, not because I have to, but because I choose to. I don’t want to be 70 year old with no teeth and barely able to walk eating food through a straw and not had sex in 20 years because of a limp dick!! Even at speeds when I pull out I do my checks and every bend I check my mirrors and rarely ever fail to indicate. The amount of tossers doing 30mph whonever check their mirrors, never indicate, drive around roundabouts on their mobiles etc… there should be a mandatory annual retest =/
EDIT: (to avoid double posting)
I just got back from town … out of the 4 CCTV cameras on the street which is only about 300 – 400 metres long at most, not one of them saw the collision… wtf….

What’s your excuse for being a virgin now? And what makes you think that’s going to change between now and when you’re 50? ๐ ๐

Dream on Baby. You’re never wrong (pull the other leg ๐ ๐ ๐ )
Cum-on who would admit that they are wrong ๐ ๐ ๐
* runs and hides – as a lunatic on a fast bike is coming his way ๐ ๐
December 9, 2006 at 8:19 am #41034AnonymousParticipantI would!!
December 9, 2006 at 3:40 pm #41035XDC_WolfParticipantit hardly matters who was in right or wrong when you’re dead. Driverrs can be wrong more times than cyclists and get away with it, cyclists rarely have more than a few chances. It sounds to me as if you don’t value your own life, never mind the lives of the people around you, which to be frank, is a bit selfish.
December 9, 2006 at 4:43 pm #41036XDCMorganParticipantHope your feeling better old boy.
I lost both my knee caps in a bike crash when I was sixteen. I done a lovley flip on my old ER125 going to work.. It took 6 hours of surgery (3 on each knee) to put them back together with some glue stickyback plastic and 5 titanium pins, then about a month in a wheelchair then another six weeks on cruches!!
Youve got to love bikes!!!! ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
January 16, 2007 at 5:36 pm #41037AnonymousParticipantTook some pictures today – bike is ina bad way =/
A chap the Garage and my brother knew (of atleast I think) had pretty much an identical crash to mine 2 weeks ago and died ๐ฅ
Guess that makes me lucky but when I’m รฦรโรยขรขโยฌร ยกรฦรขโฌลกรโรยฃ5k down and the other guy is chatting shit so I may not get it back, it sucks that bit more!!
Notice how the front end is unrecogniseable, the front forks/wheel are not straight (they actually snapped off!!), the battery is trailing out like giblets and the whole thing is generally shagged, basically.
January 16, 2007 at 5:45 pm #41038TurksMeisterParticipantPics are too small… cant see them.
Please double size atleast.
