ParticipantOk, my curiosity has gotten the better of me.
i’ve jusr re-activated my account from when i last played it in April ’04, so i’ve feck all idea whats what. i’m just downloading the client now.
I honestly can’t remember this game at all, apart from it’s some kind of space sim.

Participantthis game rocks Beer! Lots of strategy involved, skills training and making cash (isk), but with the help of joining Crazy Hippo’s alliance, it helps out a lot. Alzir plays too, he’s helped me out a few times, in some tricky situs, with some pirates.
OGAME but 20times better!
Mugs, my ingame name is “reaver77”.

Participantthe game looks pretty familiar, but it’s gonna take ages to get back into the swing of things, i think i’ve even got a pretty established charactar, but i dunno what race or alliance i am.
in-game name of Beer_monster

Participanthey beer!
Well I am well on my way to travelling back to empire from the south now. and I think I will definately get joined up to hippo’s alliance,
I think it will be alot of fun being able to play with people you know well.
My character is geared mainly for fighting and I should be ok to go shoot some people now. so hopefully be able to do the PvP thing better and kill those GOONS!! hehe
GOONS are enemies of ASCN also it seems, they have been raiding in the south along with Stain Empire pirates!
Dont forget the wonderful BOB too! they are pesky bunch too, dont supose you guys see them being up in the north?

Participantok ,getting the hang of it now, i’ve got 3,000,000 ISK’s plus another 3.5mil when i can offload some silver, but the prolems i’m having are teh skill levels, i can’t buy and use jack shit. is there anyway off adding skills quickly instead of taking the 4days to learn them?
August 5, 2006 at 11:33 pm #30415Mugworth
Participantyou need to train the skills in the order they go up the levels
you can speed that up depending on what laerning skillls you learn.
Also depending on your characters stats as to what you can train faster.
I have my stats geared to engineering and gunnery type stuff (willpower etc) and so those skillls train faster than say electronic type stuff.
Beer I could not find Beer_Monster, but i did find “Beer Monster” i tried msging that player but they did not respond and sent them an eve mail, but no reply.
Can you confirm your name? loll
August 6, 2006 at 7:55 am #30416Beer_Monster
Participanti’ve sent you an evemail m8, you got it right.
i’m really struggleing to understand skills. i’ve got something like 18 skills and 150k skill points, apperently in nothing at all, because i can’t use any of the good stuff weapon wise, and everythings gonna take like 4 or 5 days….and up to 12 days to learn.
is there a tree that i can see what skills i need before i can start learning new skills?
August 6, 2006 at 8:23 am #30417Mugworth
ParticipantHello Beer.
Yeah there is a lot to learn.
I think you should turn the tutorial bot back on and go through that. it will take you a while to get through it, but it goes though how everything works in eve when you are starting out.
It takes a lot of time to be able to use all the good stuff! everything is based round time in eve.
This is the difference from Everquest or WoW which have levels.
Basically you have to decide what you want to do in the game and what race you are to start with dictates what you need to learn.
So we need to know:
What race you are and how many skill points you have trained in what?
For example with me.
I am Amarr which are ships that look the best 😛 and can only really do EM and thermal damage and use Laser turrets as their primary weapons. They also have massive power grids and armour.
So in my case I have loads of skills in energy laser turrets and armour repairing/hardening areas.
This is more important when you start off as once you have got established you could for examle learn missile skills and shield skills and the piloting skills to fly Caldari ships which are missile spammers! lol.
So we need to know what skills you have 🙂 evey module you fit on your ship and types of ships you want to fly require skills. the further up you go the skills require other skills trained to specific levels.
e.g in terms of flying ships:
Frigate -> cruiser -> battleship -> dreadnought -> carrier
-> destroyer > battlecruiserhard to show that really as there are so many types of ship now.
but basically to fly a frigate, you need frigate command skills, to fly a cruiser you need frigate and cruiser skills. to fly a battleship you need frigate, cruiser and battleship command skills.
This works with the guns to going from small, med, large, extra large. they all require each other as you improve.
all takes time.
I like to shoot things and so do the others, so most of my skils are for combat. hence why out of the 4.2 million skillpoints i have 1.9 million of them are in Gunnery.
So Beer I would look at that and tell us what you are! and then decide what you want to do so you can train the appropriate skills.
PS: in you email box, on my name, right click it and choose add to address book. then you can see when i am online. (address book is in the people and places page under buddies. 2nd button down on the bar)

ParticipantOh guys. I have my Apoc BS and Crusader Inty in Stetille where one of your corp offices is in empire space.
I have eve mailed you also hippo when any of you are around as to what you guys are doing with your corp 🙂
I want to see max to i have do some weapon testing on the MediHax! haha
August 7, 2006 at 3:36 pm #30419Ronathon
Participant150k sp Beer, you look like you didn’t play for more than a week 😕
I’ve got my stuff together, found my BS and Inty o/. Insured said BS and now I’m skint lol.
A friend of mine also reactivated his account and I think we’re both looking to join a corp for a bit of help, cba to rtfm, I know the basics still but there’s confusing stuff like revamped E’warfare and new ship classes 😕
Is crazy’s outfit looking for anyone? 15m sp mainly combat and mining, got a bit of trade and research thrown in on the side from when I became a carebear towards the end.
Currently stationed about 3 jumps from Rens, the centre of the known galaxy 😉

KeymasterWell our original unit which we’ve been talking about has essentially ceased to exist as we’ve now all merged with another bigger corp, in the same alliance. Although I’m not too sure of all the details in this merger I imagine it leaves Hippo with less say on who joins up with us etc (he’s the one to ask though about all that).
Beer and max I think should stay out of our corp for the time being though, as the goons have managed to get max a few times of late which is a bit of a hinderance. The two of you could maybe gang up together for a bit while you get the old skills and isk up then come out our way a little later 🙂
Oh and one other thing, the good news Beer is that you can still fly a small ship, with low skills, and get involved in some big fights. Generally the role of small frigates is to “tackle” hostile gangs/fleets. You have to expect to lose ships, and you’re not likely to get many kills by yourself, but if you can warp scramble (i.e. prevent them warping to safety) web them (stop them running away) or even nos them (sucks their capacitor dry) you’ll be an asset in a fight. That’s basically my job in a fleet, and even though as a tackler you’re expendable and have to expect to die, I’ve yet to lose a ship in any fleet action and have 17 kills now according to the alliance kill board 😀 Ok I can punch a bit harder than you guys can at the moment, but relatively speaking it’s not a lot compared to the big boys in our fights.

Participanthehe you really are in the center 🙂
I am in statille currently where hippos corp has an office.
I am not sure what they are doing though 🙁
Max and Alzir are members and beer is still in newbie corp for 2 1/2 years lol.
I am still in my current corp Eve defence force which is part of Ascendant frontier.
I was chatting to Wizzywig last night (another bod in hippos corp) and they are on about ceasing their corp and joining some german corp!!
Whats this about lol. Not trying to be racist but I dont really liek the sound of that.
It would be nice to play together with all you guys, although there is a big setup and market out in the south with the corp and alliance i currently belong to (ASCN is the biggest alliance in game)
Ronathon several changes 🙂
EW got a make over
Missiles got a make over
Tech II ammo is out.
Pulse lasers got nefed majorly 🙁
Player built space stations (full size ones, not control towers)
Capital ships (dreadnoughts, carriers and titans)
Stealth bombers and covert ops recon ships.
Tech II cruisers and battlecruisers
faction ships
4 new BS’s are coming very soon to add to the current 8 available
Alliance’s can claim terrortory now with POS’sKali is next out, they have done a major upgrade on the hardware to 64bit servers now. Also load balancing is much improved soon as in china they have over 41,000 players playing at one time!

yeah they are a German corp. however the operate in English so its no biggie. the reason we joined was that we have spent best part of 6 months looking for new members however almost all of those who joined us either left very soon after/we idiots/ or were spies for other corporations. as a result we as a corp lost a freighter to spies and it cost the corp about 6 billion in assets (which isnt a great deal but being a small corp it hit hard) we then started to get back into things but realised that we needed numbers to operate at a level that we wanted to.
i.e we had a player owned station (medium tower) and it took us the best part of 2 months to get everything together to get it operational. it then took a signifigant part of our gaming time to keep it operational. the new corp however is large enough to operate and maintain several and has the ability to put a pos up tomorrow if it was required. so we decided to go with this corp as we have known them from some time, they are good pvpers and good fun as well as having the operational support capabilities.
as you can imagine leaving JOSTDA was hard as its a corp that myself and wizzy setup 3 years ago and it has a lot of history in EVE. so we didnt make the decision to leave lightly.
oh and queeks…i prefer the term Geek…k thanks :p
