I’m having a nightmare at the moment with 2142. I’m getting some seriously crap FPS even with the graphics turned to low in the single player game. It’s almost as bad when playing as commander, since the cursor twitches across the screen and takes two or three attempts to activate supply drops etc. And when I’m on foot it’ll take two or 3 attempts to change weapons.
This all started around the same time as I installed ventrilo (so maybe Signal and Wolf are having the same problem?). I’ve cleared out my graphics settings under ‘Documents and Settings’, but the problem persists.
Anyone got any ideas?
Erm didnt we start with Vent around the same time as the 1.20patch came out?Do u think its a patch problem?
I’m not sure that it’s a patch problem. I only installed vent last Friday, and the game wasn’t this bad before then 😕
I’ve already cleared out the graphics cache, but the problem persists. I might try reinstalling the gfx drivers and direct x first before going the through the hassle of a new 2142 installation. Trouble is though that this is a new XP build anyway 😕
Plus, since I’ve installed (and subsequently uninstalled) vent, 2142 won’t run with TS running. It starts to load and then drops out.
well after last night I’m more inclined to think it’s the patch and not ventrillo( I apologize oh mighty Ventrillo) I left last night because the titan maps were unplayable for me basically one second Max was there one second he wasn’t , and my fps was basically around 10 as well. I think I’m going to stop playing titan maps untill this is sorted out, if ever.
Anyway I idd as the usual which was un-install and re-install but fps on titan were crap, although the strange thing is it starts off ok and then gradually gets worse, maybe the moving titans issue is back?

Back in the 90’s I used to work for the Federation Against Software Theft and had to destroy any old hard drives that we threw out since they often contained court material. This normally involved me whacking them with a hammer.
One particular day we had a new saleswoman start who said “I know nothing about computers, so I’d like to learn as much as I can”. She came up to the forensics lab and was introducing herself to the team as I was dismantling an old HDD to show some of the other what was inside, prior to disposing of it. As the woman came over and said hello keen to learn about ‘computers’ I poined to the exposed disk plata and said “well you’re just in time to watch me fix this computer virus. Look, you can see it there.” I ponted to a speck of dust on the disk as the woman made suitable noises at actually physically seeing a comupter virus.
I then gave the HDD two swift blows with the office lump hammer and then bent down close to inspect my handiwork, nodding sagely and saying “I think one more blow should do the trick.” The woman just stood there next to me agog as I whacked it again. Of course by then the rest of the team were in hysterics.
So there’s always time for hammers!

Mine does exactly the same Signal. Starts off okay(ish) and then just gets worse. Titan maps are unplayable, but I can get by on Gibraltar or Cerebe without it getting too bad (15 fps). But I’m not so sure it’s the patch. I don’t recall having these problems early last week. Titan’s have never been particularly great for me, but now they’re a joke. It took me ages to get down the walkway from the hangar to the reactor room yesterday ‘cos the the frame rate was too low. Also, are you having trouble selecting weapons?
I must admit I rarely change weps but I can only say all other maps are fine I usually play cerebre and Camp Gib and I dont have a problem with them. I can honetly say it only seems since I’ve put the patch or Ventrillo on these probs have occured. When I get a bit more time I will investigate it further but at the moment I cant do anything about it. As you say though last night it became unplayable for me quite annoying really considering I’m playing on a core 2 duo platform with a 8800 gfx card and I’m only getting 10-15fps a second. Really considering dumping BF completely at the moment it’s just now worth the stress.
What I really don’t get about 2142 (or BF2 either) is that sometimes I can play the game on full settings with a beautifully smooth fps sending me charging forwards, and other times? Choke central on the lowest of the low settings. I’ve not really noticed any improvements with titan lag with this patch but then as you’re all aware my ISP is a great steaming pile of crapola so it’s hard for me to pin-point the blame….
..ah fek it I’ll say, it’s Neon’s fault! Not quite sure why but now I think on it I do remember seeing a dodgy bloke lingering around the local exchange with a hammer! Because of the area I live in I’d just asumed he was going to rob someone but the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together now!

Might go and join Fenix and wander aimlessly round a ArmA server wondering what the hell to do for a bit.
i’ve only played Arma multiplyer twice and the lag was unbelievable, completely unplayable for me, even though my ping was in the mid 40’s.
As for BFtwentytwelve, i think i’ve given up playing it due to the poor performance on my PC, it’s suddenly gone very very slow, but i think it has more to do with me installing Vista. 👿
RO is still playing great, even though our server seems to have died a death in the last week, it’s been empty.
