Participantcame across a circa 1980 Hornby Wester Express Goods Set, 00 guage, brand spanking new in the box, still got the laggy bands holding it all in place !
i say circa 1980 as that was around the time of his retirement from boots, when he brought it ! he left the Hornby range booklet with 1980 on it.
all contents are mint and un-used, the box is in fair condition for being stored on top of a wardrobe for 25 years, when you lift the lid, the clear plastic has gone brittle and broken, otherwise its a mint boxset complete with all cardboard bridges and scenery.found one for £50 that sold last year, but it was missing the controller, and also used a little.
anyone have any resource to find the value of this box ?

Too right Itchi! What a bunch of sad losers.
Everyone knows that N Guage is the best one to go for if you’re wanting to create a life like railways system with Horny sets. You can lay much more track that way in a smaller area, and what you sacrifice in detail is more than made up for by the complexity of the track you can build. 00 is only any good if you’ve got a lot of space, but with todays houses, who does? Of course if you’re wanting to put together a decent system, you can’t beat the German manufacturers as the level of detail on their trains puts Hornby to shame, plus their electronic controllers are out of this world.
Pffft! Hornby 00 Gauge indeed 🙄
