I have just read this email from Multiplay and thought it should be for all.
Basically there may be some downtime for the BF2 Server.
Multiplay blurb below 🙄
Dear Multiplay Customer,
Multiplay Announce Relocation of London Hosting Operations Commencing Weds 6th September 2006As you may or may not be aware, we have been subject to significant increases in the cost of our hosting space in London. First we had a significant price hike in the cost of electricity and this has now been followed with the merger of Telecity and Redbus Interhouse a few months ago. These were two of the major European datacentre/co-location providers with several sites in London between them.
Soon after the merger, TelecityRedbus started to contact customers to “re-evaluate” pricing structures, which in reality is a significant price hike. Following extensive negotiations with their senior sales people, it has become apparent that we would be looking at a dramatic further price increase in both the cost of space and power provision. This would have seen our costs for hosting increase threefold since April were we to remain.
Obviously we have been evaluating other options in the interim and have found an excellent alternative. InterXion is another of the big Euro providers who have proven to be much more accommodating and forward-looking. Their facility in London is on-par with Redbus and in fact has much more expansion opportunity. More importantly, we have secured a 3 year deal to safeguard both ourselves and our customers from this situation in the future.
As a result of all this we will be totally migrating our infrastructure and hosting from Redbus Sovereign House (SOV) to InterXion (IXN), starting Wednesday 6th September (this coming Wednesday). This will involve minimal downtime, as the sites will be linked during the transition. It is literally a case of unplugging machines in SOV, transporting them to IXN, then plugging back in and turning on. This will be a phased move with certain servers moving on certain days. We anticipate downtime of no more than 4 hours per machine.
We will be contacting you with more details about when exactly your server will be moving, so you can inform other members of your clan and be prepared for it. All of our customers will be receiving a 1 day extension to their hosting contracts for the inconvenience of the move.
Keep an eye out for more notices soon, in particular when your server will be moving.

Craig “Wizzo” Fletcher

September 6, 2006 at 6:04 pm #33422SpugsParticipantIt is unfortunate timing with the release of the patch, hopefully it will be sorted soon

Dear Multiplay Customer,
Following our previous email informing you that we are moving our London hosting operations to a new datacentre in London, we are now able to provide more detail as to when individual servers are planned to be moving. Please check the list below for the name/ip of the machine on which your server(s) with us are hosted to see the expected outage window.
Please note: These outage windows are a guide only. Where possible we will try and move servers earlier to minimise disruption, but there is always the possibility of delays outside of our control.
Further note: The Multiplay core servers will be moving on Friday morning in the time slot 06:00-08:00. See the list below for more information on which services this will affect.
Multiplay Server Move DetailsA live version of this will be listed as a news post within Clanforge. We may have to make amendments to this, so please check the ClanForge version in case of any updates.
