Ok… finally got this fucking game to work on my computer! 0/10 for copy protection malarky! Still… I was keen to see how the actual game panned out.
Im not sure why people had a problem with this game wise originally… graphics are superb, the setting is ingenious, but above all – the narrative underlying it all is a beautiful piece of work.
There are some very intelligent in jokes regarding Ayn Rands objectivist theory of society (read the fountainhead – very interesting book… or if you are short of time read Rands wikipedia entry 🙂 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayn_rand)
I cant remember another game which brought to life a dystopia quite as well as this… as well as giving all the usual shocks and thrills that you usually expect from an FPS. The AI of enemies is as SOIA mentioned not fantastic… but TBH I havent found the firefights to be anything other than exilarating regardless.

Problem is with CoD4 and Crysis coming out they seem better bets for an FPS, and as for story driven games The Witcher has got more to it than any game I think I’ve ever played (which I know isn’t saying much but there you go), I even expect Mass Effect to fall short of The Witcher on that front.

Tell you what – when you complete it give me a bell and Ill do a swap with you 😀
November 5, 2007 at 3:08 pm #61784sickofitallParticipantAren’t you in Australia though doc? Postage would cost a bloody fortune.
If you aren’t and you’re back in England I’d have to wonder why, having got away from this complete shithole of a country, you felt the need to come back?!
November 5, 2007 at 4:21 pm #61785XDCsPUNKerParticipantoh the truth is even funnier

November 6, 2007 at 6:22 pm #61788XDCJuDgE-MenTaLParticipantYea I’m on Act2 aswell m8, no idea where abouts in the game that screenie is from. Just nobbed the “gossip” bird and an Elf (she went like a outhouse door in the wind) and negotiated a discounted rate with the Eager Thighs Brothel. Shani…still not having any of it. At least she don’t mind me turning up in the middle of the night to inspect her camel toe.
November 7, 2007 at 7:39 am #61789XDCiNSANEParticipantNobbing.. birds.. thighs.. brothels.. Camel toes?!?! is there Art in this game?
November 7, 2007 at 9:44 am #61790sickofitallParticipantIt sounds like you’re outpimping me Judge because I haven’t boinked an elf yet, unless you mean that green bird in the swamp with her rat out.
To be honest I’m not very good at “roleplaying” in these story driven games so my Witcher basically acts like I would. That means that I’m not right interested in that Shani bird anymore – if a bird isn’t looking like putting out sharpish I tend to lose the will to bother with ’em fairly rapidly.
It also means that I’m unlikely to bother with elves either cos I hate those tree hugging hippies, I’ve already twatted a few for talking to me and sold one out to the authorities and then killed his mates.
There’s tits and fannies Insane, but that’s about it, and they’re computer generated. The shagging birds bit isn’t really anything to write home about in itself but the sex, prostitution, drinking, drug taking, racism, child trafficking and all that make it more interesting than the “good men go out and kill bad men” shite that seems to make up the storyline of every other computer game you’ll ever play.

November 7, 2007 at 10:24 am #61792sickofitallParticipantNah, not even worth warming up on to be honest. Better off getting straight onto the internet and downloading some mpegs of a strumpet getting dry humped.
