My computer has crashed twice now while playing COD2, both times there was alot of smoke (errr in game!) on screen, and lots of people whizzing around. Ive checked my cpu temp, and it says 53* so I presume its the graphics card doing it – Basically the monitor blacks off, and the screen does that “analogue/digital check” thing it does, so I presume that means its checking for life, and isnt finding any. Is there any way of finding out how hot my graphics card is (without using a real thermometer inside the case!), does it sound like a graphics card problem?

    Cheers

    100% graphics card problem

Your GFX card is overheating. May not be the GPU core but one of the many voltage converters/other cores on it. I have exactly the same problem and have fixed it by adding more fans in my case, but now I’ve fried my card 🙁

Fortunatly I have techie support from Mesh, so will just tell them about the problem… and wait the 3 weeks for them to get here!
