Bought one of these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DSM-330-Connected-Wireless-Player/dp/B000X4F7RO
absolutely terrific bit of kit 😀 😀
using it wirelessly 😯 and it seems great, no stutter etc……
plays all me movies/series/music and photos
a doddle to setup…my best buy for a while…so very very impressed
a lot of £300/400 media kits may play different formats, but not half as well as this10/10
cant recommened high enough
March 10, 2008 at 9:53 pm #65963XDCViperGraParticipantNice 😀
March 11, 2008 at 7:56 am #65964XDCiNSANEParticipantI was looking at these a while back, not got one but would have rated an 8/10 due to no True HD (1080p) support and I’ve read the usb port on the front doesnt allow you to just plug any ol usb flashdrive to watch a film from it, infact I’ve read it doesnt do anything.. this was one of the main reasons I was looking for something like this.. a dvd player or similar with a usb connector so you can copy divx to flash drive then plug and watch.. mind you.. thinking on this would be Ideal for me bedroom.. *slaps forehead*
Think I’ll add to list of things to get when remorgage house 🙂
March 11, 2008 at 8:41 am #65965nOmParticipantInsane there are ones out there to do what you want…cost a fortune though 🙁
you can get one of these http://www.popcornhour.com/
got to inport though and demand is very high
the Divix one just does what it says it can, very well, there are hacks that allow it to play other media formats though
March 11, 2008 at 8:54 am #65966XDCiNSANEParticipantAye.. theres some on amazon that do all the singing and dancing, for a price.. but realised when I was typing that one of them you got would be ideal for bedroom, till i sort me frontroom out at least 🙂
would save the arse of copying divx to CD only to throw away once viewed
🙂
March 11, 2008 at 9:25 am #65967xdc magickerParticipanti was at a conference last week and there was an all in one dvd / tv / divx player in the room
i had already chucked a load of torrents on a dvd so i could watch in the week (documentaries you know) just for a laugh i shoved in in the player and couldnt believe that it worked just ignoring all the PC files that were also on the disk
very impressive stuff.
March 11, 2008 at 10:28 am #65968nOmParticipanthere you go insane…cracking thread for your front room 😉
March 11, 2008 at 1:40 pm #65969XDCiNSANEParticipant😆 makes note for future reference! 🙂
March 11, 2008 at 3:01 pm #65970Beer_MonsterParticipanti’ve been looking at something like this, i’m currently using my Xbox 360 as a media extender.
What i really want is something what Insane is suggesting OR something that i can stream HD formats (.MKV’s or WMVHD) from the PC upstairs to the plasma downstairs. Does that unit that you have support .mkv’s or the like?
