I had a spare saturday morning so i thought, i haven’t played 2142 for 3-4 months, i fancy a game. i go try and start it up, EA Link trumps up and tells me ” the game cannot start. In order to launch the game, please log onto EA link to verify purchase and try again.”

WTF?, i AM logged into EA link, i’m frikking launching it from there!

I contact EA “support”, basically they tell me ” yeah, it’ll be because you have it installed on 3 other machines….you’ve shit it dude”. I may have re-installed it 3 times on THIS machine due to various re-formats, but other than anyone stealing my EA link account, i wouldn’t see why you can’t install the game as many times as you want on the SAME machine.

    Utter Utter wankers. 👿

I vow never to give EA another red cent.

What they told you is bollocks mate.

Launch EA link and then logout of it, close it down fully and them log back in and then try and launch the game. There is a maxium limit of 5 times you can download and install the content before it locks you out.

It’s a safety trigger built into the backend DRM encryption, PM me your EA Login name for EA Link and I’ll what I can do.

Thanks lammie, i’ve tried doing what you suggest, but it’s still a no go.

I guess this is karma’s idea of a joke, since the only reason i used EAlink was sheer laziness as i couldn’t be arsed to make the effort to go out and buy the game from a shop……you live and learn.

Doesn’t it save the files somewhere in the EA folder so that you can make a backup ? I’d like to know where so i can make a back up my northern strike before i do a reinstall of the game!
