Elfen Lied

If your into Animes, you may of already seen this – I havnt watched any in ages, since the times of Ghost in the Shell (which was great btw). But anyway, was getting back into them and this one seemed to of been getting increasingly popular, so I watched the ‘Elfen Lied’ series, 13 episodes. Anyway, its an absolutely fantastic Anime, really enjoyed it – its super violent, has a great story, but there are some quite disturbing scenes (not for the faint hearted, youll no what i mean when you see it) – overall a fantastic anime which I really got into.

The plot:

“The story is based around the Diclonius, a species of evolved humans with two cat-ear like horns and vectors, telekinetically controlled arms which resonate at a frequency to the point in which they become transparent, and have the power to manipulate objects within their range. Most Diclonius seem to be girls; male Diclonius are rare throughout the whole series (first one being the Professor at Kohta’s school as seen in the manga). In the anime the female Diclonius have uncommon hair and eye colors such as red and pink unlike regular humans who have brown, black, blond, and red hair. In the manga, their hair coloring can be as diverse as a normal human’s (ex. Nana and Mariko have purple and blond hair, respectively, in the manga).”

Now this sounds quite far fetched, but just give it a watch, really got into it – basically the main Diclonius, Lucy gets a bullet in the head at the start (she starts tearing the lab, shes being researched on in, up and kills a shit load of people – she falls into the sea, gets a split personality (which is her good side – she gets the mental age of a child and all she can say is ” NYU “) and everytime she remembers something from her past or hits her head, she goes to her bad side and vice versa. But anyway, these two cousins find her in her child like state, and take her in and call her Nyu (because thats all she can say atm), and through the series – all there pasts entwine and you start to understand things.

The start of this anime is one of the goriest openings ive seen yet. If any of you guys watch it, let me know what you think – theres also a manga and another episode (10.5 or some people call it 14 – which occurs between episode 10 and 11) for those who want something more after watching it – the secret episode isnt essential at all really though.

The soundtrack was great, the plot was great, kept me hooked, the English dubs wern’t too fantastic and somethings were left out from the Japanese original but overall, great! Good watch for anyone who wants to get back into Anime.

Ive moved onto full metal alchemist now – very popular and i know its meant to be shit hot.
