Can one of you kind, technically au fait gentlemen please do the following tonight when you are playing and experience lag.

    I cannot because:

1.) I am out to dinner at Automat in Mayfair with a gobby frog-nosher and the ball&chain
2.) I will not be on the server to see any lag spikes.

    Thanks

    His Phartyship

    Hi,

I have restarted your server, however if the problem persists could you please:

    – Download WinMTR – http://winmtr.sourceforge.net/winmtr_bin.zip
    – Unzip the file and run the WinMTR.exe file inside it
    – Set the host as your server’s IP address and hit ‘Start’
    – Continue to play with this running the in background for at least 20 minutes
    – When you have finished, stop the trace and export the results to TEXT
    – Reply to this ticket attaching the results

Please note that it will only help if you run this during a period where you experience ping issues. If you do not, then the results will be meaningless and we wont be able to help.

    Regards,

Doubt it.. everytime you get an issue.. its seems we have to do all the testing.. or its the games fault!

I wonder if server team here would get away with asking the users to run apps to check speed of there own equipment :/

Probably more a reflection on my isp than the server though.

we do the same at rackage with the mtr report, after that we do take a good look at the server stats tho,

I have sent the stuff back to Multiplay.

I hope they sort it quickly as the server is due for renewal next week. I cannot just jump to Rackage untill I figure what to do with the web hosting.

OK, this is what Multiplay has come back with. They seem to say that those with problems should contact their ISP’s.

File 1 is getting packetloss from the first router:

    | 192.168.1.1 – 1 | 1619 | 1617 | 0 | 2 | 187 | 0 |

    to | 194.117.136.126 – 1 | 1619 | 1618 | 0 | 11 | 125 | 16 |

and it doesn’t improve from there onwards.

I suggest contacting the ISP and sorting out their linx connection.

file 2 has packetloss right accross the board and high pings, I would suggest something else is maximising his internet connection.

again his ISP is limiting their LINX connection so he is getting packetloss.

    | 213.200.78.82 – 1 | 2201 | 2191 | 15 | 41 | 1094 | 31 |

File 3 is getting packetloss from Pipex’s core router onwards.

    | ge-0-1-0.2.cr01.gs1.pipex.net – 2 | 3226 | 3185 | 31 | 32 | 63 | 31 |

File 4 is a common example of NTL’s network, they cannot handle the throughput so are packetshaping everything, meaning packets are dropped.

    for example | bre-bb-a-so-130-0.inet.ntl.com – 33 | 4312 | 2927 | 31 | 101 | 1312 | 94 |

I would suggest each user contact their ISP and speak to them about getting static non packetshaped routes to cr0.multiplay.co.uk and cr1.multiplay.co.uk

this will enable them to play on our network with no packetloss / lag.
