3d spotting sucks for me personally. But anyway i thought the plan was to have the server on match settings to a) keep it consistent and b) make sure we are used to them in the event of us getting a match. Im sure goatie would love em on so he can kill everyone in his fing chopper but i vote no!
Can we just put our server to normal vanilla mode seeing as we get no one joining our server because they can’t see it in the server listing

Well i didnt know it wasnt showing up.. why would that be? If we have to change to a set of standard settings though then we should have a vote as to whether it is hardcore or normal. Fair enough?
whatever dont care but because its set to custom,I dont think our server can be easily found, hence the last 3 nights, not a single unknown joined.
Yeah i do agree that 3D spotting makes it really easy for anybody in a chopper to see and kill ground troops but it is also turned on with all the populated servers. Maybe once we’ve got a good amount of regular players we could try turning things like that off and see how it effects the server population but at the moment we need to to everthing we can to encorage people to play on it at all.
Also, i’ve uploaded the fraps footage i capture the other night if anybodys interested. Its unedited and pretty long but also packed with glorious headshots 😈

Unfortunatley theres no TS at all as i havent worked out how to capture it with my current setup. I think the only way I could do it is to record comms directly through TS and sync it up afterwards which is a bit of a pain.
When I chose the current settings, although I said the aim would be match settings, match settings actually include things like 3d spotting on. I went for everything hardcore except damage to try and keep everyone happy, but it’s clearly not working. The issue is not that we’re not showing up, it’s that we’re showing up on the least searched list on battlelog, custom settings. As a rough estimate, based on servers out there, 25% are hardcore, 75% normal, with virtually nothing in between, in terms if populated servers. This is the same problem we’ve had before, we have something we all like, but it’s not visible enough.
There are several things we can try before resorting to a decision between two extremes which will only divide the playerbase. The first i’ll do tonight, and retick each option to see whether we can leave any off and still show up under normal. If we need everything on, then we can try individual options each night and assess the results. We could also petition via the get satisfaction forums and make an argument that high ticket and modified vehicle spawn timers deserve to be listed under the custom bracket in battlelog, or that at least they could remove the search category and and allow custom servers to show up on normal or hc search lists….this is of course a long shot but the feedback may have an affect on bf4 if we can drum up support. It may also advertise what we’re trying to achieve.

We also need to look at advertising it anyway, which is the goal of the youtube thing, but it’s early days there and we need a lot more work ane better organisation to get that going.
I really want to avoid going back to full normal if we can, but it may be necessary if only to pick up some regulars initially. This would affect any advertising efforts though so we need to plan it carefully. First thing though is to experiment and see whether normal will still list us with some options off.
Oh and gary i’ve been able to watch the first ten minutes of that and some awesome shots in there….that headshot on ben crossing the alleyway in particular. Will watch the rest later when got more time.
Yeah, great video, its just a shame i feature so regularly in it. You seemed to kill me twice as much as anyone. Maybe i should just stop trying to knife people? 🙁
You you do seem to have a knack for catching bullets with your head. On the up side you did manage to knife me a fair few times out of the blue!

I know some people prefer certain settings like 3D spotting off, TK, etc. However, A few have us have been on our server every night for the last week or so in an attempt to get the server populated. I can honestly count on one hand the amount of randoms that have joined in this time. I agree, I think we need to set the server back to Vanilla and give it week and see how we get on.
BF2 had the Commander, UAV’s and Artillery Strikes etc which all had the same effect in spotting the enemy, my view is that raises the ante and you have to kept modifying your tactics to counteract. It’s not as if one team has an advantage over another and it keeps the playing field level for everyone. My only gripe is people spamming the console which if I remember correctly can be limited in the server settings so players can only use it a certain amount of times over a defined period before it’s temporarily diabled ( 30 secs if remember correctly.)
I will go with the general consensus, however before we discount anything I think we should at least try it.
