October 8, 2011 at 7:21 am #79341AlzirKeymasterReally enjoyed the games the last couple of nights, though get on TS you two! Our pro comms really help you get more kills, and you never die following an XDCer’s direction 🙂

October 8, 2011 at 9:50 am #7934311thSignalParticipantMy god, how do you lot think this is a good game? it’s not good at all (and yes I know its a beta) it’s just BFBC2 with different maps. Probably still end up buying it though unfortunately
October 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm #79344AlzirKeymasterThat good games were had doesn’t mean it’s a great game yet, and yea that judgement will be reserved for full release. It’s worryingly very similar to BC2 so far, although the Conquest map we were playing last night was better designed than most conquest maps in BC2, but I suppose your overall opinion depends what you didn’t like about BC2? For me I developed a hatred for Rush, which more often than not felt like either camping or banging your head off a brick wall (though was sometimes good), and the conquest maps were far too linear on the most part. After that the game didn’t bother me too much, although initially I was put off a bit by the COD style they had adopted. It was still a bf game at heart though, and it was the teamwork in squads of XDC (and rats) that kept me playing it for quite a few months. It didn’t have the longevity of previous BF titles because the maps were just too one dimensional for me, but it was by no means a terrible game as many nights of fun were had.
October 8, 2011 at 3:43 pm #79345XDC wild egg tamerParticipantI’m sticking to my guns and not bothering with this on pc. I may get it for xbox but as someone who has had BFBC2 on the xbox for nearly a year and still can’t control it properly it may give you some idea of how much i use that thing anyhow!
I’ve decided that the only time i will now get a new pc for gaming is if they develop a whole new WW2 game from the bottom up and not just rehash the same old maps from BF42 with the new engines! My current pc is way too old for BF3 and i have no inclination to upgrade for BF3, more modern combat which never floated my boat!
It will interesting to read the forums and see how you guys are getting on with it, in fact it’s been great seeing more activity on the forums in general the last week or so 🙂

October 10, 2011 at 6:09 pm #79347XDCiNSANEParticipantEgg mate, Its never going to happen 🙁
October 10, 2011 at 6:47 pm #79348AlzirKeymasterYea it won’t happen for a long time yet. The WW2 phase for devs was a good 5 years ago, but it was pretty much done to death and they had few places left to go with it. The problem if you don’t like the modern setting is that there’s just so much more incredibly cool stuff they can do when it comes to likes of single player campaigns for example. There are also much more options available for weapons, unless they do an arcade version of WW2 like BF1942, but that usually puts off the reality types who moan about lack of historical accuracy, and who make up the majority of ppl who give a shit about game setting vs a games playability.
October 10, 2011 at 9:55 pm #79349XDC wild egg tamerParticipantkinda agree with you there alzir but i’d say modern has been done to death and then some!
I guess i’m alone in wishing for an updated version of BF1942, new maps as well as the old favourites, great weapons and great aircraft.
🙁
October 10, 2011 at 10:14 pm #79350AlzirKeymasteri’d say modern has been done to death and then some!
Hard to disagree with that except that, for whatever reason, they keep releasing really cool stuff in modern settings, and it’ll stay that way until someone figures out how to inject the same into a WW2 title. I struggle to think how they’d do that, but that’s probably why I’m not earning megabucks as a game designer. A revamped BF1942 would be good to see though, and surely that’s a no brainer that we’ll get eventually.
October 11, 2011 at 8:34 pm #79351XDC wild egg tamerParticipantwell if we ever do get it, i’ll be buying a new pc then 😉
