As you may know because google maps is XML its hackable, so you can make your own google map with little areas on the map with your own markers, directions and photos etc (good for your own website) – but, theres loads of messed up directions on google maps, go to the site, and look for directions from London, uk to New York, us – then follow the steps….wtf? Theres more on there i believe, some websites list them
I think the directions that say “Swim the Atlantic” are just for a laugh. Made me smile anyway.
You don’t need to hack XML to do your own maps – it’s an advertised feature of Google Maps. Goto GM and just hit the “My Maps” tab – no XML required….
Yeah, it is for a laugh, 🙂 i knew that and i also knew theres an area when you can put points etc included on google maps – but if your after your own map which you can modify etc, and have it internal with your site – and be able to customize it fully, (along with a series of other pieces of open source recently released) then XML and Hacking the google map is the way to go! Also means you can customize animations and movies – make directions based on a movie clip.
