having said that we once watched A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket and even the kids insisted that we switch it off after and hour- a terrible terrible film.
funnily enough we dont actually read books to the kids – they read to us – they always get a glazed look if we try to read to them.

Watched that at Christmas with my Sister and my cousins young kids (9 & 11) we all loved it, my sister even went out and bought it on DVD.
It was a really well directed film with an interesting story, Jim Carrey fitted the role of Count Olaf brilliantly and acted really well as always. Made me and the kids laugh anyway.
