Well – read this book on cowboys recommendation.

Not bad i would say…. easy to read and good examples. Not as well laid out as I would hope – I have had to make quite a few notes to try and keep the most pertinent information more readily available.

All in all it has taught me some useful lessons on tournament play hold em. I had a match on Sat night and got half way through the field of 30…. not bad for a newbie i guess. As usual I did way better at the cash table though – made 50 quid on a 10 pound stake.

Cheers for the tip Cowboy – keep me posted if there are any magic bullet tips you come across!

Ace and King in the hole out of 52.

Hmmm maybe this book is useful…. I just came 2nd in the local texas hold em tourney out of 30 people. Made about 80 quid…. not bad for someone who has only played 5 games! My total winnings over those games is now over 200quid on a 65 quid outlay!

    Ave it!

Poker books are underrated I think, I used to wonder what the point was until one day I read one before going to the casino (for first time) that night. I came 2nd out of 40 people winning over 200 quid (tenner buy in but first 3 hours you could rebuy which was a pain), so was definately worth the read 🙂

Which book did you read alzir? I had another match on Sat night – was kicked out the tourney ealry this time (Ace King is a dangerous hand to have in the hole 🙁 ) but won 70 quid at the cash table. Fricken raking it in! 😈

I can’t remember what it was called, and it’s packed in some suitcase somewhere since moving home from Liverpool so doubt I’ll find it anytime soon. It wasn’t by anyone famous though, just a guy explaining how he makes a moderate profit from the game, but it covers a lot of the basics fairly well.

AK’s a funny hand isn’t it, I heard a stat recently that it was most common hand that people went out on during the world series of poker, and I think there’s a lesson there.
