I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about Liscencing – if you donate a computer to Africa (for example) would the windows 95 liscence still be valid on the machine out there?

If it’s OEM then the licence is to the machine, not the owner. If it’s retail, then only if they have been given the full SKU along with it IIRC.

OEM = Other Equipment Manufacturer, i think. Microsoft licensing is a nightmare.
OEM = original Equipment Manufacturer, ie provded and/or preinstalled by the Vendor with the license key attatched to the machine.
SKU = Stock keeping Unit ie The retail Box with disc and manuals and the licence certificate (off the shelf)As long as you only have one copy installed somewhere, then the license is valid.
It doesn’t matter if the original certificate, keys etc go with the machine to Africa – though it makes sense if you can.
