I know theres a few graphic novel fans around here… any1 read this? I bought it on a whim last week and devoured it in 2 nights.

The true story of a Jewish family living in Poland during the 2nd World war. A lot of the themes you will be familiar with from the mountains of films/ books etc dealing with the holocaust – but for some reason this ‘comic’ is one of the most powerful versions of the story i have ever read.

All the characters have been turned into animals… all the jews are mice, the Nazis Cats, the poles pigs (not sure about how PC that is!) and the yanks are dogs. Sounds weird, but works very well (though i am tempted to think that it was just a way for the artist to get out of having to draw lots of tricky human faces.) 😉
Very honest, very blunt and very depressing.

Read this when I was in Germany a few years ago, devoured it as well. I got his reflection on 9/11 as well, just before he died. Got to say, it was excellent. I really would recommend this to anyone, graphic novel fan or not.
