on 2nd thoughts ,i’ve cancelled the download, lot of people on other forums complaining about driver compatibility issies, and i really can’t be arsed to do a re-format when it fucks up. 😡

Yeah, I’d definitely stay away from the beta version until you hear from others about compatibility, security issues, bugs, ect. Win XP Pro has been rock solid for me anyways. 8)

There are a lot! Ask Minti, He tried to do a VM install (not happening) I’ve got a copy as MS send us em all the time – I’m not putting it on anything bar test machines. I’ve got a HP deskpro at work, I’ll find a dvd drive for it and install it on there next week.

Public version should be time bombed anyway..so I would bother doing anything more than using it to test. It will probably last for 120 days only after that it fooked any way. As for drivers and bug’s yes there’s still likely to be a few drivers missing but not that many now and as for bugs how long a list do you want. Until all the debug code is taken out and they get the feedback from this latest testing you can expect them. But in some cases depending upon you hardware platform you may be surpised just how well it does run.

I certainly don’t recommend running in a virtual machine due to the video requirements. VPC’s can’t really handle it very well it runs extremluy slow.

The second install I did direct on to a HP EVO P4 , installed with out failure, I didn’t do much miore that test the install process and check out some of the features before I return the box back to it previous state as it could ues my shity old TV card installed.

I’m about to load the MSDN – Vista Ultimate 64bit June 2006 beta 2 on my new AMD FX57 box, I’ll let you know how i get on.

Hey guys, got Windows Vista beta installed (writing this on it) and it seems to work very well.

I need to get an ATi created gfx driver though instead of the MS one, but everything else installed fine except my onboard soundmax audio.

Clicked the set up devices not installed. asked me for the install cd and did the rest for me.

    Everything else installed fine lol.

Oh and my pc has a performance rating of 3 lol.

14 days to register the copy with the free key u can get from the link in my 1st post and then it lasts until 1st june next year.

Oh yeah it did my internet connection for me too lol.

have to try some games on it soon

32 bit as I only have a P4 3ghz and I guess my performance rating would be higher too lol.

I went to ATi’s website and you can get Vista beta 2 drivers now so I have installed those to get full performance from my graphics card 🙂

running very well so far. although it would not let me install windows live messenger as i didnt have enough privilleges even though my account is administator lol.

I dont know, oh and windows mail (outlook express) does not support viewing your hotmail account through it 🙁

hmmmm, i’ve downloaded the image albiet from the newsgroups after i gave up on the microsoft websites, but i’m having trouble making the DVD for it, when i click on the image it opens in Nero, but when i burn the image, it just burns the image, it doesn’t seem to upack it and make it into an installation DVD.

    any advice?

i downloaded off newgroups too. i opened nero, and then choose burn image and it went fine. so not sure what you are doing wrong?

    which release did you get?

I think this is the one i got. although may be a repost:

ok, i took the plunge and installed to see what the fuss is about, and from about 5mins clicking about it, it looks fabulous.

The only thing is it’s installed itself on a partition, so i don’t have any of my XP application on here, no BF2, RO or Steam games.

If i did take the plunge, how do i delete the old partition to free up the space it’s taking and re-install all the old stuff onto this? or do i need to do a total reformat and go thru the hassle of installing vista again, coz that was a time-consuming pain in the arse.
