It’s that time of year again when I get a call from my parents who say:
“What do you want for Christmas?”
To which I always reply:
“I just want your love and respect.”
But apparently that’s not possible, so I get given ‘stuff’ instead. Which is coincidentally what leads me to my question question. Are these compatible:
Intel Pentium 531 3.0Ghz Socket 775 800Mhz 1 Mb Cache EMT 64
Plus
Asrock 775DUAL-VSTA
Plus
1Gb Corsair Pro DDR PC3200 (400)
I normally do a ‘partial’ upgrade every six months or so, but I’ve had no money to buy bits until now. Basically I’m choosing the Mobo ‘cos I’ve still got AGP, but will be buying a PCI-E next year. The memory is the stuff I’ve currently got and the CPU’s cheap.
My concern is that the memory and CPU won’t be compatible, even though the board supports DDR and DDR2, the ASRock site isn’t very forthcoming about the multiplyers on the memory and if they have to match that of the CPU.
Can anyone let me know if it’ll work please? My budget is around £100.
