Probably one for insane…..
I bought the Xbox mainly as a media extender, but having trouble installing Tversity or Transcode360 on my Vista PC, thus not being able to play Xvid’s, I had it working great on the old XP system. Can anyone tell me if i mod my xbox, will this help me play Xvid’s?

March 15, 2007 at 9:36 am #48308sickofitallParticipantI need some advice on getting one of these. Basically, the twats at Bioware are only releasing “Mass Effect” on the 360 so it looks like I’ll have to get one (that and Sony lost me as a PS3 customer by being conning shitsticks).
So I should buy a console but what else?
I’ve seen adverts for ones which include a 20 gig hard drive. Why would I need one? Will I be able to save games without it? What hard drive does it have already?
I understand that you can download stuff on Xbox Live – do any games really have additional content? Also, if I bought the additional hard drive could I plug that into my PC and download this content from there and then just stick it into the 360 afterwards?
I’ve read that Xbox live comes in silver and gold. Gold gives you online gaming – is it worth it?
What the hell are Xbox live points and how do they work?
Any advice would be appreciated so I don’t end up buying crap I don’t need.
Cheers.

DEMOS, MOVIE TRAILERS, ETC ETC, NAH YOU CANT PLUG IT INTO YOUR PC LIKE YOU THINK.. NOT THAT i KNOW OF*
I’ve read that Xbox live comes in silver and gold. Gold gives you online gaming – is it worth it? *XBOX LIVE IS BRILLIANT, I LIKES IT AND PLAY IT ALOT, ITS WHAT MAKES THE 360 BETTER THAN SONY SHIT*
What the hell are Xbox live points and how do they work? *UMM.. YOU BUY STUFF.. YOU ADD POINTS VIA YOUR CREDIT CARD, FOR CONTECT, LIKE THEMES AND AVATARS.. GHEY REALLY*
Any advice would be appreciated so I don’t end up buying crap I don’t need.
Cheers.

Don’t want to overstep the mark… but don’t you mean premium?
March 15, 2007 at 10:10 am #48311LammieParticipantyes I think that’s what he meant.
I have to agree with Insane though if you are going to invest in an XBox 360 get the top end one bigger HD 2 wireless contollers etc and usually comes bundled with a bout of games one is usually a recent release and the other is naff.
Prices vary depending and where you get it but a top end machine your looking around the £250 – £300 mark
You will get Xboxlive silver as standard but for £40 get the Gold subription which lasts for 12 months
March 15, 2007 at 12:13 pm #48312sickofitallParticipantThanks for the advice – I found 3 bundles. 1 for 200 quid which was basic. 1 for 265-285 quid which was premium and I also found one for 380 which came with some kind of HD DVD drive or something. By the sound of it I should go for the middle one.
What games do yuo reckon I should get then?
“Mass Effect” appears in May and I thought “Gears of War” was good when I played it for 10 minutes at my mates. Which others are decent or should I just stick with those 2?
March 15, 2007 at 12:17 pm #48313XDCMADMAXParticipantGears of war looks very nice but way way to short.
March 15, 2007 at 1:51 pm #48314XDCiNSANEParticipantAye the HDDVD is mainly for films.. there about £100 on there own
games.. umm.. GRAW2 is a good game.. esspcially if you aint played the 1st one.. shame BF2 couldnt have been like it hehe
Crackdowns a good un if you like games like GTA.. its not bad.. GTA4 is exclusive to the 360 this year.. theres a countdown to the trailer for it.. I cant wait to see what next gen brings to GTA!!
This Mass Effect is supposed to be one of the games everyone is waiting for.. its supposed to be a good un :/
March 16, 2007 at 10:47 am #48315sickofitallParticipantAh I see, lot’s of great Xbox 360 exclusive games then – about as many as you could count on the fingers of a lepers hand by the sounds of it!
