How does this look spec wise – will be used primarily for gis, photogrammetry (resource intensive), learning cad and porn. Oh and maybe some bf too…Vaguely how much would it sell for in the UK? That might help me determine how good it actually is…

I read some shit reviews about it so decided against. Had a play around with another site and came up with this – any thoughts? I’m not going to be gaming on it really at all, but do want a dual monitor setup eventually. Can I reduce the graphics card any more?

Some of this looks pricey to me, but are the quotes in Canadian or US dollars (and is there much difference these days?)?

As it happens I was looking into some upgrades for my brother over Christmas and might be able to suggest a few alternatives which might bring you up to gaming spec for a decent price.

I’m in the middle of an exam period though so it may take me a few days to get back to this.

£500… but the exchange rate is crazy at the moment at about $1.80 per £1. It’s a good time to visit Canada!

    – ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77 Motherboard
    – SLI GTX 660 Setup (1 x Gigabyte 2GB, 1 x EVGA 2GB )
    – Corsair CS750M Modular Power Supply Gold Rated
    – 8 GB Kingston Hyper X RAM BLUE (2 x 4 Sticks)
    – Hyper 212 evo CPU cooler

thats a reasonable pc for gaming too. HD isnt much money these days and a DVD writer is peanuts.

Considering you clearly need the peripherals etc that doesn’t look too bad a deal. You could even replace that gfx card in a couple of months and be able to play a lot of games on high rather than low/medium.
