Right, here’s the deal, I have been slowly upgrading my computer with second hand bits and bobs and recently installed another gig of ram, but it would seem to have messed up my comp. At the moment I can sometimes boot up, but it soon crashes and then doesn’t detect my hard drives. I am fairly sure that this might be to do with my 150W PSU and was thinking about getting a new one. So advice people please, what so I need to get and what should I avoid (P.S., I’m not made of money and am looking to sped around £35-40 on it)
It would be likely that it is ur PSU playing up, now a days ur like at 300 watts minimum, i mean my 5500 watt cost about 45 quid, its a ‘Titan’ if i believe rightly. Some can be very expensive and not worth the money, but you can get plenty of decent ones like ‘Tagan’ aswell, good brand. Hope it goes well for u mate, try http://www.microdirect.co.uk , they have a few mate. (or overclockers). 😮
Buy 1 of those shit PC cases with free 400w psu (which probably really does 300w).
It will pop sooner or later, but what do you expect for that price – on the plus side they can run for 3- 5 years untill they pop, the downside is they could pop after 3 – 5 days, but atleast then it would be under warranty.
I’d personally use Enermax, but as you’re not looking to spend £££ then it ain’t happening – my Enermax for my BF1942 rig set me back £120 -_- They can be had for half that with more features these days though.
