what a shit review.. and lmao at this guys reply..
“I leaned over to my companion and said, “I don’t mean it as a criticism, but I feel like it’s completely inappropriate to applaud at anything in this film.””
Wow, what a dick. Next time let your “companion” enjoy the movie in whatever fashion they choose and then discuss it AFTER. I cannot fathom under what circumstances a thinking human being would do something that dumb. I mean seriously, you didn’t mean that as a criticism? Google “pretentious.”
And nester, there’s no self-fulfilling prophecy there. It’s called free will. As long as there are free-thinking human beings on this planet there will be conflict and likely war on whatever scale. All it takes is ONE human being. Just one to fuck things up. Take away free will and you can have your xanadu.
To the meat of the review. It encourages me even further to watch the movie. In this day and age I fully expected a message of some kind in Rambo but I like the idea that it provokes more thought than “white christians are the devil.” The balance between the justification of violence and it’s sickening reality is a difficult line to walk and results in some pretty spectacular movies. See: A History of Violence. This universe is packed from corner to corner with violence. It’s a proven reality. How we partake in, consume and process the violence is the REAL study.
“Inappropriate to applaud…” LMFAO you are such an a hole. I can safely say that if somebody I knew pulled that crap on me at a movie I’d charlie-horse ’em like a mo fo

What an ass, I bet he’s some posh middle class bloke. If he’d said that to me I’d have laughed in his face.
really don’t know if the film is supposed to be saying that violence is sometimes necessary, or that violence is necessarily destructive. And I don’t have an opinion either way. But it creates an uncomfortable moral quandary that is never quite answered, and is in fact glossed over by the enjoyment we are supposed to derive when Rambo shows up in the back of a jeep, unloading millions of rounds from a gatling gun into bodies that liquefy and explode on contact.
I think he’s looking for too much depth in an Action film, I think the answer he was looking for is Violence is entertaining to watch.
He trash talks the entire film, not saying anything posative then gives it a decent star rating at the end, wtf?
