15mins footage of new standalone – guess these guys can take their time now Warz flopped on its arse
its looking good. i like the fact that they have simplified some of the options to make it more accesible i just hope they dont make it too simple.
also i dont want them to take forever to get it out the door as im really looking forward to it. its not like people should be expecting a final quality game initially, the mod wasnt exactly flawless and neither was ARMA 2 🙂
Haven’t seen the video yet, but what I want to know is how well we’ll be protected from server wide hacks in future. They don’t need to resell other aspects of the game, just sort out the hacking.

They’ve rewritten the engine and moved all the important stuff server side which should make it as hack resistant as any modern game according to rockets blog. Gonna stick to private hives until this version comes out. Can’t wait!
all item spawns are now server controlled not client so item spawning shouldnt be an issue. but i dont know about the other hacks, kill all stuff etc. hopefully that is only server side as well as that is what stopped me playing. randomly being killed was crap
Same here really looking forward to this and now the pressure is off (they must be laughing at the warz failure) we should have a good game
I’ve just watched that video, and immediately updated my current DayZ install. Going to jump on that server Messy got us access to and shoot some people in the face.
In the video I actually felt a shiver down my spine when I saw them walking through Cherno. We really must have had a blast with this before the hackers ruined it.
I’ve been playing on a private hive for the last few weeks. It’s a thousand time better for hackers, we get a few people with hacked in weapons, but they are caught really easy by the vigilent admin and certainly nothing like the epidemic with funny dances, falling from great heights, people spawning on your psition etc, we were plagued with before.
Didn’t even look at this due to the apparent hacking that pretty much killed the game for many.
Love the idea so would be great if they can sort it.
