Indeed I would Master Doc – but would prefer power over graphics initially, then chuck in a £100 ish card in a few months time when something good comes out that we all like.
Going to have a look round today… while I am stuck in with gastic entinitus or something – lost 56lbs since Wed .. whoop!
July 4, 2009 at 5:28 pm #73066xdc the docParticipantgastroenteritis.
Dont celebrate too much – it might be swine flu! (Some people present with diarrhoea only!)
And for 600 quid you can get a fine card now…. why wait? We need more COD4 players now, Wolf is too crap to be my wing man for long and Spunker has dissapeared.
July 4, 2009 at 6:30 pm #73067TurksMeisterParticipantI live with 2 Doctors so think i am in safe hands… just joined the semi solid crew, so think i am ok!
Would rather spend it on a shit card – can still play COD4 with that, so why bother getting something better? Would rather spend the extra on a 24inch screen or something… besides – you specced me with a £700 pc!!
July 4, 2009 at 8:59 pm #73068XDCsPUNKerParticipantsorry to butt in with this but it is related. Why on Earth can’t they tweak XP to acknowlege Ram above 3gbs surely cant be that difficult?
July 4, 2009 at 10:05 pm #73069To0THBRU5HParticipantBuy watercooling, it’s fun. I installed mine myself, was very cool 😀

^^^^^ see what he did there? Genius! 🙄
Turks – you can use that spec and drop the GFX card a few notches if you are totally stuck at £600
Just to give you a comparison… Custom PC seem to rate YOYo tech computers occasionally. Found one for 600 quid exactly without an OS.

My reason for MESH:
They have an open case policy,
They are hundreds of years old, so gopefully wont dissapear with the crunch…July 5, 2009 at 6:47 pm #73073xdc the docParticipantArghhh!
I give up. Nom and i are arguing over how important 4gig of ram is in your build… you plump for 8gig?!?
The graphics card is the worst of all worlds – wont play modern games that well, but adds to the cost of the system… might as well stick with the onboard one if you are serious about not wanting to spend money on GFX at the moment?Quad core processors DONT MAKE ANY SENSE. I dont usually encode videos whilst playing games… the only people who do are usually people who bought quad cores and are wondering what to do with them. 😀 The chip makers have hit a bit of a wall you see in processor design…. instead of just focusing on increasing the speed they hit on this wheeze of sticking multiple cores in. Only problem is there are bugger all applications around that can make any use of them! Custom PC had a great review of dual core pentiums versus quad cores a few months ago and the lack of performance for the money on the quads was very surprising… in some cases they actually seemed to slow things down! Marketing bullshit wins again.
Maybe in the future they will solve the technical issues of using parallell processing in applications… but until then i would forget it. (Alan Wake may change my mind I guess… but from what i read it will run fine on dual cores too.)
(Disclaimer: This is a personal opinion of an internet forum and doesen’t amount to much in the grand scheme of things – if you disagree then post away but don’t fall out with me! 😉 )
Oh… and PC specialist lets you open your case to change components too… I am seriously not on commission… but I did a LOT of research before i bought from them – they were a) the cheapest, and b) I was very pleased with their service.
July 5, 2009 at 10:11 pm #73074To0THBRU5HParticipant1 000 000 000 MEGABYTES (1TB)
THAT IS ALOT OF PORN YOU BASTARD!!!! I can hear you fapping from here! Yuk! 😆
July 6, 2009 at 10:56 am #73075TurksMeisterParticipantJust mixing it up a bit!
My MA bought from PC specialist and were very happy with them – will take a look myself today.
Cheers for the help daddios.
July 6, 2009 at 1:17 pm #73076TurksMeisterParticipantWord up!
Would getting a 10000rpm drive as my main drive make much of a difference when loading programs?
And I am worried about the PSU lark and upgrading… hmmm
I also keep pushing my budget up… silly boi!
July 6, 2009 at 1:35 pm #73077To0THBRU5HParticipantYes 10 000rpm rocks. But on a 1TB drive the load times will be quick anyway as the platters are more compact.
I run 2x36GB Raptors, they make my crappy PC load things is a non crappy time!
July 6, 2009 at 1:59 pm #73078TurksMeisterParticipantOk… 1 more question as you are doing so well!
With a HD enclosure, will I be able to access my old drives (which had win xp on them) and extract all the info (music/porn etc) easily?
Thanks
July 6, 2009 at 3:05 pm #73079To0THBRU5HParticipantYes 😀 Next!
