Depends which Mobo you’re going for if the board supports 1066Mhz on the system bus then it makes sense you by memory that will run at the same speed and the bus architechture. 1066Mhz should be pretty standard on most new Mobo’s anyway as most of the highend board are running 1666Mhz now.

But would the difference between 800mhz and 1066mhz be noticible?

*Edit* Just saw this on Toms Hardware:

As impressive as the Radeon HD 4890 is with its 100 MHz core and 75 MHz memory overclock versus the older Radeon HD 4870, we’re looking at a real-world 10% speed increase over the cheaper Radeon HD 4870.

Thinking I may save £30 and go for the 4870 instead…

Looks good to me Turks, but Nom is right to be wary of PSU’s – you could always ask them for some more info re exactly what make they use and how reliable it is / what other options they have (though like i said it worked fine for me.) Custom PC did a PSU test this month though and it was interesting to see that the 2 that blew up in testing were from reasonably well known brands (arctic cooling and cooler master) – so there are dangers whichever way you go. The benefit of buying from a company rather than building yourself of course is the overall system warranty of course.

Up to you re GFX – 30 quid aint a lot of cash… but there is a law of diminishing returns so….

1.5T hard drive? That is a LOT of porn.

How about using 2 smaller drives to give yourself some redundancy?

Personally i have gone for a very fast raptor drive that only has my OS on it then a ‘normal’ HD for everything else – but that may complicate matters unecessarily for you.

Hey m8. Get on TS any night and there might be one or two of a rare breed on there …. ‘XDCers who play online PC games together.’ 😀

I should be on after 9 or so…. if i don’t smash up my computer trying to work out how to use wordpress correctly.

Been playing COD5 for a few nights as borrowed it (lent whatever) off my nephew.. its rather good for a wuick dabble.. however BF1943 is out today so i’ll be on that from now on

Nice GFX turkles, 1.5T HDD! lordy lordy I got to get me one of those!

p.s. I do what Doc does, v fast raptor for OS and several HDD’s hanging off it, always have, always will.. call me anal but I like to keep things rather tidy when it coems to my PC, dont like installing games on same drive as OS!

So you have a fast raptor just for OS? why wouldnt you install games on it too?

If I have fast raptor for OS, is it easy (I assume it is) to link all the my documents crap to a bigger non os drive?

Been playing lots of COD5 on the PS3… love it, although not too different from COD4. You played the new BF yet?

Aye but they sorted it within days and it was well worth it, had one game last night *trying from 4:30 to 7:30* and it was rather good, the FX are stupendous and it adds to the atmos!

shame the tools at EA didnt forsee this lag issue, apparently filters are ghey and uk’ers were getting put on japanese servers, hopefully it will be sorted soon

oo oo Its been sorted reading on AV forums.. strole on tonight, first impressions = amazing game is what they are saying
