I’m pretty sure this is fake (icons mising etc.), but I really hope it’s not.
June 25, 2008 at 10:48 pm #68092AlzirKeymasterWhere did you pick that up from? The content there actually sounds quite credible.
Engineers will need one hell of an update at this rate though.
June 25, 2008 at 11:56 pm #68093XDCJuDgE-MenTaLParticipantIt was on a TF2 forum, but it’s clearly a photoshop of the pyro release as the wording for the map release is identical.

shame, like you say, seems credible.

June 26, 2008 at 6:23 pm #68095Beer_MonsterParticipantI just wish they would have released all updated of every class at once, those fecking pyro stat-padding, unlock whores are ruining the game. The pyro is massively overpowered at the moment, roll on the heavy/soldier unlocks then we’ll see who’s fucking laughing then!!!!”232432432556t24576435 👿
June 26, 2008 at 7:09 pm #68096AlzirKeymasterlol yea it seems that way a bit
Good job the footballs still on….but look on the brightside, when soldier/heavy comes out and everyone’s pimping them for updates, we’ll be kicking some serious ass 🙂 Still coping alright with the mass pyro’s atm though, it’s only clan mates teaming up on maps with loads of enclosed tunnels that’s doing my nut in. I also have a feeling that the pryo might just get a bit of nerf bat treatment soon, especially to that backburner as there’s just no response time when it catches you.
BTW I heard something about a nerf to soldiers spash damage, does anyone know the details on that?
June 26, 2008 at 8:27 pm #68097XDCJuDgE-MenTaLParticipantThey nerfed the soldiers 40% reduction in order to make the pyro airfist work (i.e rocket returns and does full damage) as I understand it, so although it doesn’t affect rocket jumps you might want to switch to shotty to kill anyone standing next to you. You still survive it if you’re being medic’d but you’ll definitely notice a increase in suicides up close. Have to say the soldier had it too good in that dept but I think that the soldier ammo nerf that came before was a bit too heavy..
I read an interview with Robin Walker prior to the Pyro update he reckons they thought about releasing all the unlocks etc at once but it would have been a nightmare to balance. Have to agree though BeerM the 8 pyros per team does my head in so I’m playing mass effect until it dies down. Luckily they’ve reduced the amount of achievements to unlock milestone 3 only need 22.

June 26, 2008 at 11:01 pm #68098AlzirKeymasterYea got confused by those unlocks, especially getting the milestone 2 and 3 for medic while playing solider….though the bar was set to high anyway.
What’s the 40% reduction? Was it the amount of damage you lost for shooting at your feet as solider? If so what are the parameters for rocket jumping now, since you still only lose 50 max for it…or am I wrong? I hadn’t noticed an icrease in suicides, as soldiers suicide a lot, but now that you mention it I think maybe there has been an increase, and it might just make up part of my pyro rage atm 😉

I agree.

Before, if as a soldier you shot a wall (or someone) and you were standing in the rocket damage radius you would take about half the damage you would normally take from an enemy rocket. Now what happens is that unless you are shooting directly at the floor you will not get that 40% reduction it is almost as if you’d been hit by an enemy rocket. Sounds harsh, but the radius isn’t huge and the reality is that 1 rocket rarely kills a soldier plus they also seem to get the most Medic love. I’m guessing it was the easiest way to make the pyro airfist return the rocket as full damage without having to recode a heap of stuff. Although crit rockets change colour when returned I notice.
I wonder what happen if you returned a rocket and an enemy scout ran in the way and caught it…because by the above rational it remains a friendly fire rocket….hmmm must test. You would hope the scout would die in a heap.

I was running beside a solider the other night when his rocket was deflected straight at me, and I took about 60 damage (not sure if it was a direct hit or not as it happened so fast).
