Didnt expect much from this, but its a superb film .. really enjoyed it and made a refreshing change to the normal nonsense thats been around recently!

Song : 10/10Just watched this on your recommendation and I’m fucking glad I did. This film shits all over The Fog and wipes its arse on the director’s wife. Didn’t watch the trailer so as not to spoil it for myself which I think was a bonus as it had me guessing right up to the explanation of what was going on.
[spoiler:2hkyqra0]Once the explanation was given I thought to myself “Ah, so this is what happens in a hick town when the Half-Life portal storm happens”.
Quite bleak in places, but spiced up greatly by the action sequences, beastie attacks and religious nutjobs.[/spoiler:2hkyqra0]One of the best recommendations of all time. 😀

though it was ok, shame about the acting but spose they spunked all the money on average CG and couldn’t afford any big names I guess.
[spoiler:ss1pclsf]The end was a bit shite, go through all that and then shoot each other 5 mins after running out of gas…booshit. Why not wait it out a bit at least, and I don't care no father could shoot his son that easily. When that old guy in the car says “well no one can say we didn't try” I was shouting…you didn't try…loosers. If the director wanted that level of despair he should have covered the car in those spider things and have them hammering shite out of it.[/spoiler:ss1pclsf]
Wasn’t my cup of tea, although the old lady throwing cans of peas and burning shit was pure bad ass.
[spoiler:1h5610i2]Also Judge, in terms of the ending – totally agree – they fight that hard to get where they are, and after all that, oh….”weve got no gas”? There's no “wait here – i'll try get another vehicle” or anything like that? Just shoots them all?! Stupid – I least expected him to shoot in there air or at something else, just to get rid of the temptation of suicide, but he actually did it. Why give up there? Dosnt fit the character at all. I dont quite find the idea that after running out of petrol, he suddenly decides theres no more escape. And again, after protecting his child through so much – he has the strength to headshot him? You could say “OH BUT HE WAS PROTECTING HIM FROM THE CREATURES BY KILLING HIS SON HIMSELF”. Bullshit, i just think the ending was Wank.[/spoiler:1h5610i2]
My oppinion on the rest of the film is that I wouldn’t rate it as highly as some of you guys have, no real wow factor to it for me to be honest – i wouldn’t call it a crappy film but i wouldn’t call it great either. Id say around 5 or 6 out of 10 from me.

[spoiler:2mbez3y7]Thats what did it for me, not the usual happy ending (which are good I have to say) that you find in films these days, I was expecting the usual YAWN shit of “finding a convenient garage when mist clears” or them waking up to discover it was all a dream.. load of shit, I was flabbergasted and shocked by the ending which is why I thought it rocked! oh yeah! Plus the music made me goosebumply which was even better, had the music not come on,it wouldnt have been as good :)[/spoiler:2mbez3y7]
[spoiler:1t23rfer]The ending was deffintly out of the blue – non of that happy, slap ass, ending bull crap – but I just think there would of been other, better, ways to get the same reaction, without having to shoot everyone and end it in such a way. It left me kind of like Oh….ok. Even if the ending was just him going off into the mist to find some other means of escape and then it ending (ok, maybe not quite like that, but you get my drift), never finding out if they escaped or not – and just completely cutting the suicide part and the tank and troop convoy bit out.[/spoiler:1t23rfer]

Damn! I should really start paying attention to what Insane says. This film was awesome. Okay, not everybody’s cup of tea, but I liked it ‘cos it was a very human story (the lawyer who wasn’t being an ass but thought they were mocking him, the kid was always crying and not acting ‘spunky’ and heroes who made mistakes and often ‘lost it’), it’s a situation where you start thinking “what would I do?” and a little, weird looking fellow gets to kick arse and not be type-cast as weird or little.
It’s also good ‘cos it doesn’t sell out at the end, and kept me guessing if nut job religious lady might be right. I’ll give it a nine, but only because a very similar thing happened to me a few years back, and I solved the problem with a big-fuck-off-great leaf blower (that’s right Thomas Jane, a leaf blower. Bet you feel pretty silly now eh?)
