I’m off to Pittsburgh to see an old drinking buddy and catching a Steelers game too boot.

Now, with the PS3 getting released there on 17th Nov, and having a good chance of getting one, are there any technical reasons why it or the games/ Blu-Ray disks wouldn’t work over here?

……..now the other problem is finding a big enough suitcase to fit my clothes and bounty in so the nasty customs men don’t collar me and make me touch my ankles whilst lubing a rubber glove up. 😯

all this stuff should be 110-220 volt autosensing and compatible, like most computers.

    The Blu-ray is also universal,

You can borrow my suitcase if you bring me one too 😉

Why can’t you just post it to yourself here? Just mark the box parcel as a present?

hmmmm, i know i’ve been collered on the import tax before when the dozy mother-in-law marked a practically worthless item as worth $500 and we ended up paying a lot of money before the post office would let us have it.

Therefore, we will utilise the full scope of the law to put a stop to any retailers who chose to do this.

Not a retailer, they don’t want a little fish like me

“Ultimately, we’re trying to protect consumers from being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards, due to voltage supply differences et cetera; is not – in PS3’s case – backwards compatible with either PS1 or PS2 software; will not play European Blu-Ray movies or DVDs; and will not be covered by warranty.”

I’d be VERY suprised if the PSU isn’t an autosensing unit (110v-230v) like everything else. Ultimatly they’re trying to fuck over the EU/UK consumers by charging well over the top, simply because they can.

Please let me know if it does work in Blighty as I’ll be heading back from Japan in December and my bro would be well happy if I brought one back.

Japan, is a different ballgame, I wouldn’t want to bring in one from there

Why’s that? Cause of technical details or just that that’s the home of Sony and they might get shitty?
