Obviously with the forums down this is a little late, but the latest tf2 update’s added in a couple of nice features.
Team Fortress 2
Fixed team switches on Attack/Defense maps spamming the console
Fixed the Kritzkrieg not working on servers with crits turned off
Fixed some clipped localized strings in various in-game dialogs
Fixed several cases where files were synchronously loaded while the game was running
Fixed a shutdown crash in the material system
Cached rendering of item model panels to improve performance, in particular while weapon selection was visible
Added a gear symbol behind the health bar for Engineer buildings, in both target IDs and freeze panels
Players killing themselves will now give a kill credit to the last enemy who damaged them
Fixed grenades, rockets, and flamethrower being able to fire through grates at round starts
Fixed players being killed and creating ragdolls during team switches
Fixed various exploits and performance problems in CP_Badlands, CP_Well, and CP_Fastlane
Removed health bonus from the BackburnerThe backburner has been nerfed 😀 which is great, but before pryo’s start gurning about that, notice you now get credited for damaging a player who suicides shortly afterwards, and I reckon that’ll increase pyro scores more than any other class. Also interestingly the Kritzkreig now works on no crit servers. I’ve not played on any of these yet as they’re mostly for matches, but it’s worth noting the Kritzkreig is an option on them now, not that it would get used much.
Oh and one other thing about the update is that steam’s fucked up our server, but gonzo’s working on fixing it.
July 31, 2008 at 8:05 pm #68749XDCJuDgE-MenTaLParticipantyea pretty good update, end of the backburner I would imagine though, so expect a lot more returned rockets and ubers suddenly ending as your medic gets air blasted across the map. Glad the gate glitches are fixed, shame the ones in the walls all over Goldrush ain’t. 🙁 Also like the idea of the Gear icon beind the health, stops you messing around as a medic thinking the engi is injured when it’s actually the dispenser. 🙂
I wonder how the kill credit works, I presume this will be from things like killing yourself with stickies or your own rockets. Does it work with falling damage for instance? Or more importantly am I still going to be able to Rocket Jump and press “explode” and shower everyone with gibs without giving away a point?

The extra life had to go but its still a awesome upgrade.
Bring on the Heavy update!!!

Not much point in the BackBurner now lol
Can really piss off the soldiers now with the air push and still do fine in fights with other pyro’s.
Someone was moaning the other day that the pyro shouldnt have the flare gun since hes “not allowed” long range weapons lol.I have been playing demoman recently, dam hes fun, but I die a lot.
Been practicing sticky jumping which is fantastic, but normally need a bit of extra health to ensure you dont die on landing.
Basically 2 sticky bombs together back at the spawn on Orange X3 run over and jump just after the stickies and dentonate, you go flying miles and very high and can land ontop of the tower in the middle!August 3, 2008 at 10:12 am #68752XDCsPUNKerParticipantfind a medipack on the ground and plant the stickies on top of that. As you jump over it and blast yourself off you pick up the medipack. If you are going to use 2 stickies your going do damned well need the health 😉

Anyway just a wee note to say our server’s up and running again today, so if you have a chance, please join me on it in the evenings and help get it filled 🙂

August 3, 2008 at 8:32 pm #68755XDCJuDgE-MenTaLParticipantThe only thing that annoys me about the compression blast is the delay between using it and getting the flame back…dying way too much there. Although returning a rocket at point blank range has often very comedic results.
