Fuck this “character building, it’s absolute bollocks, every night it’s the same thing, on the opposite side to Max and Wipers. I can understand every so often when the teams are full, but seriously when the server is half empty and max and wipers are dominating (I have no idea how they manage to get the shots off that they do).
The XDC server was always about having a laugh, we even used to talk about “falling back” in 1942 if one team was dominating, but seriously, that just never happens anymore, no one gives a crap about even teams, we can rarely get a good game going because it is so unpleasant playing on the opposite team to max and wipers.
I would like to blame the stats (which are probably some of the fault of it in the beginning) but I just can’t stand it. This game is bad enough, but when I can’t enjoy it because of being dominated EVERYTIME, it just gets pointless. Hell I play for enjoyment and to play with XDC guys, but there is something fucking wrong with XDC if I can’t enjoy one game in ten.
Sort it out guys, and don’t tell me it’s “character building” ‘cos you’ve not been on the receiving end of it.

have to say that the xdc server is way too hard core for me and lis – cant spawn without dying – so we wonder the wastelands looking for more noob friendly servers
i remember in 42 days me and fluff would regularly swap to the losing side (which would ofcouse become the winning side :)) to make sure the game was balanced .. i don’t really know enough to say this is still not the case but it would be a shame if it were not.

Since I havent played in over 6 months, I dont really know about the situation – but there are ways to complain, and there are ways to prevoke a reaction/argument… this is the latter.
LOL turks, you ever tried to complain to them on teamspeak, other ways have been tried, you just get laughed at “It’s character building mate”, “don’t know what you’re talking about”, “Stop whining you pussy” have all been said. Other people have just refused to play. Look at it this way, I love playing with you guys, but no one likes being butt fucked all the time. I can handle it for a while but when you have a 10% chance of killing max on his own and it’s mano et mano, that’s fine, but when there are 6 people on the server and Max and wipers are going round in a squad you have no chance of killing both of them unless you are EXTREMELY lucky. It was extremely enjoyable later on though when they weren’t on the same team and the matches were much closer.
I’d say it was absolutely about the stats. I put stats on my CS server and people started to get pi55ed off, had to put the force team balance on in the end because of all the stacking had to turn off ‘add bot’ so people couldn’t stat pad using cr4p bots. No doubt about it, it definitely promotes a different approach to playing online games. I can see both side of the issue here (having been in both positions) I like having stats on but I’m still debating if it’s worth it if it turns people off the server. As my server doesn’t see much traffic it’s difficult to say but I do know that the better players leave fast when they get auto swapped to a team thats getting a pounding (I think thats really anal so I don’t care about it) but luckily have the power to turn them off.
No easy solution here you either straw poll opinion into ‘unranking’ the server at the risk of isolating many players or you accept that that is the game and live with it.
The other option is to play TF2 which only displays ‘positive stats’ 🙂
I jumped on ealier this evening and we had a blast some very close games and some exceedingly crap squad Leader work by yours truely but it was fun.
Teams were reasonably balanced and we had an XDC team on either side. Whilst I agree it can become a little tedious getting your backside handed back to you every 10 seconds from a good squad not just Max and Wipers you just adapt your tactic and spawn somewhere else less intense.
If your anything like me Paddy and haven’t played the game for at least 3 or 4 months until the last couple of weeks your going to be shit until you start playing regularly again.
Now just admit your shit, put your handbag away and suck it up. It’s character building don’t you know 😉
The games shit, dont play it.. Strole on when its removed from the server tbh.. stats are for willysuckers.. TF2 is much more fun.. infact we should change the RO server to TF2 for a giggle.. tiz a good un.. or change BF2142 to it, either way I aint arsed
I’ve been on the opposite side to XDC (I think I counted 12 on the team at the time.. versus me and a bunch of unknowns) .. it is rather annoying but I plodded along, I was determined to kick fuck out of everyone because of this.. I had my arse handed to me on a plate bigtime.. but still had a laugh when I killed a few.. and a few more after that.. it spurs me on to hunt people and is satisfying to kill em
