Grr shame I went out last night, but it had aready been arranged, sounds like you guys had a lot of fun last night and alot of xdc on the servers?
Yep I agree. I play a fair bit of rFactor and not too bad at it. but I am mainly a touring car driver. i am not so hot with the open wheelers.

We have 2 dedicated servers where we can admin it. in both cases probably another clan is sharing the server machine with our servers. We dont have access to the machine that having a dedicated machine would allow us to do.
so we dont have much flexibility and its in the hands of MPUK to sort out changing games and mods.
Custom maps are already being made by the community as they are done in the same way as CS:Source maps, plus if you dont have the map it just downloads onto the clients pc so that can play (server setting I believe) so its quite hassle free 🙂
I may look at making maps again as I enjoy that sort of thing and its not too disimlar to making maps for Quake 3, but extra advanced things in it now
You sure your seeing all of the screen and its not a higher res with the edges off the actual monitor? or the font display size has been reduced?

Dedicated Server = The game server application
Dedicated Machine = The actual machine the Dedicated Server runs onAll games where there is a server and a client (you) are dedicated servers. so every multiplayer game that is like this is running on a dedicated server!
The odd one out is RTS games and some odd games like the TOCA Race Driver series, these games are peer to peer with one of the peers being the server for everyone and also a client at the same time for the host, so its not dedicated!
What Phart is talking about by dedicated server is that we have a machine that we can controll and run our selfs and put on different game servers that we want.
The current BF server is not dedicated as we can control that server application but we dont have access to the actual server machine to mess with mods and games on that machine. We most likely share that machine with another clan.
The current popular vote is to have 2 dedicated machines that we can do what we like with game and mod wise. most machines can handle 2 x 32 player servers thus it would give XDC 4 servers at a time with 32 players on each max.
By doing this we could have a BF2 server (FH2), a BF2142 server, a TF2 server and a COD4 server.
Because the machines are dedicated we could have 4 TF2 servers if we wanted! or we could have 1x BF2 64 player server and 1xBF2142 64 player server as we control the actual dedicated machine and not just the dedicated server!

Yeah i downloaded the single game as it was cheaper, It comes with the orange box also which is downloadable and in shops as what spunker bought.
Seeing as TF2 works the same as CS:Source custom maps are not a problem 🙂 players just download them when they load up 🙂
Also its not too far off how maps were made for Quake 3 so I reckon we should be able to make some good maps for this game and also quite a few community ones appearing 🙂
The CTF mode is funny with that woman going on about the intelligence briefcase lol. so james bondish lol.

I have only had a little play, but looks tio be good fun once I work out what to do.
good to see alot of xdc together last night. see if we can have some good games with the rats tonight if we invade their server 😛

My download finished at about 10pm last night so only got a quick play on it, but looks to be a lot of fun. Came round the back on 2Fort and there was this sentry gun that just splattered me lol. The press this key to save this moment thing is excellent lol
Badger said that rats have a server now, so how about we all pile on their tonight for a good game 🙂
I have only tried the medic so far and not figured out totally yet how it all works 🙂
Game seems to run nice and smooth though running at 1280×1024 4xAA 8xAF with high detail levels and is good 🙂

haha lol, so it goes back and forth lol. The RACE game got converted to rFactor as a mod which is excellent. suppose rfactor stuff has to go the other way too 😛
