i had the same problem when i looked at my tag, XDC wildeggtamer wouldn’t fit (no such aggro on pc ;)) so i just settled for wild egg tamer though may register XDC WeT in future.
what psu you running on that rig alzir ?
Once my house renovations are done i’m looking to either upgrade my current pc or buy a new one. Having seen what you’ve spent and you say it’s capable of running the latest games i’m more inclined to go your way and upgrade.
I have a decent case, the PSU may suffice (can’t remember the size), plenty cabling and may use my existing hdd or buy a new one as they aren’t that expensive.
Having just got an xbox i’m still new to the whole console thing but i can see that i will get good use out of that with the games i have or the kinect when i have friends around but once i have a new pc i may also use that for gaming but also stuff like video editing.
Both have their positive and negative points. For example from a pc i found it very easy to hook into my readynas and locate files, play music etc. From the console it doesn’t seem possible as it only seems to want to look for windows media player! I have to be honest and say i haven’t spent a great deal of time trying and there may well be an easy way of doing it but i didn’t find it when i tried.
I intend to get great enjoyment from both mediums. I’ve always enjoyed playing games on the pc and don’t see no reason to stop simply because i’ve now got a console.

I’ve put it away for now as i’m working long days the rest of the week so won’t have time to play. I’m off for a few days next week as its my birthday on Tuesday but my building work starts Monday so i’m not sure what sort of time i’m going to be getting to have a game or 3!
I did have a go at BFBC2 today and couldn’t find my way around the trenches on that WW2 start up game………..not to mention i was all over the place with my controls!! But, i guess it will fall into place eventually. I also downloaded the demo of BF1943 (wake map) and had a go on that but again trying to fly, drive a tank and generally walk around to try and shoot anything was damn hard with the hand controller. I guess the fun is in the practice 😉
First impressions are that i think i’m really going to enjoy it. My last console was a PS1 which i hardly used and my old megadrive which did get a bit of use. I like that i can fire up my twitter or watch something from sky. I’ve not been able to sync it with my server yet as it seems to want to only recognise a pc but that’s no big deal as i don’t think i’ll be using it for streaming music, films etc. I have registered on last.fm which looks pretty good fun.
One thing. If i wish to change my ID from wild egg tamer to XDCwildeggtamer do i need to pay for that ? I created another profile but it did’nt have live gold on it. I will get around to reading the instructions eventually but haven’t had the time or inclination today.
I had a brief go on the kinect on Sunday at my cousins house and it’s pretty impressive. I only have the kinect adventures game but it showcases quite nicely what it’s capable of. I think given time there should be some good games coming out which will utilise the technology well. I’ve seen a few keep fit vids which i think i may well purchase 🙂
All in all, i’m a happy bunny!! 😀
hehe, i just prefer the WW2 era for gameplay, dogfighting in a spitfire was so much more entertaining than getting a lock on from 2 miles away and blowing the guy out the air. I just feel WW2 lends itself much better to a game in the way of balance etc.

I’m tempted to not bother buying a pc for gaming until a WW2 FPS comes out again.
Modern combat is just bollocks! Been done to death and back again and yet kiddies moaned when there were about 4 WW2 shooters out about 8 years ago!

I’ve not got around to doing any wiring yet as the carpets are all still down and i’ve put my back out again (recurring problem) but i’ve connected the readynas duo to my router and set that up. I’ve also connected the switch and then plugged in my laptop and netbook and that seemed to be working ok. I’ve now connected my printer to the readynas so that is now independent of any pc which is fantastic as now i can print from any of my devices without needing the main pc to be switched on.
The builders are starting work in the next week or 2 so i’ll be getting busy just before then. I know where i’m having the data points and how many so it will be a case of pulling up carpets and floor boards, doing chases in the walls where needed and getting it all completed before they come in and re-plaster the walls.
I’ve made myself a new lead with an RJ45 at one end and an RJ11 at the other to connect my router to the main BT socket (has a seperate RJ45 socket) so that when i put all the gear under the stairs in what will become my very own “data suite” i can have the router there along with the switch; readynas and possibly printer.
I’ve looked at pc specialist before so shall have a look at what their offers are. My birthday is in two weeks but with the building work going on i’ll wait until the new year when all is done before i take it any further.
Now get that tripod out and get some decent close up shots!! 😉
The depth of field is a nice touch but i’m just not sure on the blurred effect on the first 3 pics 😉
Who did you buy from doc, i’m thinking of treating myself for my 40th.
nice rig doc; macro works wonders for those close up shots though 😉
Did you build it yourself or buy it complete ?
cheers for the feedback gents. I’m leaning more towards the xbox for gaming and may just get a standalone media streamer.

Maybe it’s just me but isn’t modern being done to death and then some ? I mean come on! Since 2002/2003 we haven’t really had a decent WW2 shooter other than the red orchestra releases and to be honest i’m bored shitless of modern; never really liked it but suffered it.
EA give us an updated WW2 shoot ffs! Not rehashed BF2 from 5 years ago.
