Check if the 28 days is inclusive of your notice period. E.g. If you are 28 days short now but are on 1 month’s notice, then that means you have 9 years continuous service.

Looks like they are giving you just the basic minimum – same applied to me last year and it’s a bitch.

But the amount should be tax free – or at least a decent proportion of it. I used to know all the details and fine print from last year, and got pretty familiar with it all. Faded into memory a bit but if you ask me something I may be able to fish back into the depths of my brain.

There’s very strict rules on the consultation process and about what should happen when. If they have slipped up on any of it you should push for more dosh. A mate of mine that worked for a brewery almost doubled his payout as he pointed out that they had broken the process.

I pushed back last year and got a bit more. Always worth a shot. What are they going to do – fire you? 😉

You could try something like this.

Assuming they have set up the blocks on your PC by IP address (as they will probably not want to block off their own), you could try changing your IP address. If you’re lucky, all the restrictions they have applied will be bypassed. It’s a long shot though.

I must admit their actions seem completely unreasonable. Do you pay towards the cost of the internet? Are they your landlords? If you are contributing – even indirectly via rent – then unless your contract is explicit in this matter I don’t think they can restrict your access like this.

The thing that seems completely barmy is that they have to type a password on your PC to give you access to the web. What happens if they are out? Why do they “own” the network?

Can you negotiate a set period in the week for access?

Sorry for asking such questions – I’m just intrigued as to how this situation came about. And mystified at the petty mindset of such people that think they have the right to control you like this. If you really can’t budge them, then move out. I know its drastic, but living under conditions like that will just fester in your head.

You can keep your “ladies-that-do-lunch”, you Southern poofs, with your cucumber sandwiches and white wine spritzers. 😛

Us northern blokes will be out supping pints, munching half cooked meat pies and mushy peas, and standing out in the pub car park with just us t-shirts on, smokin’ tabs.

    Now, where’s me whippet?

Fianlly managed to get TS going again……only to find that nobody there as all were now on Ventrillo.

Managed to get that going, and I *think* people could hear me. But it seemed to make my PC pretty unstable – could not play BF2142 for more than a few minutes without a hang/crash. Maybe a conicidence, but doesn’t happen with TS. I’ll try again without either running and see what happens, although due to my new job I’ve not had much chance to play these last couple of weeks.

I kind of agree with Wolf about having just one Voip & sticking with it.

You got better results than I did. I shot in RAW and faffed around a bit afterwards. But I could not get a decent focus and so it’s not as sharp as I wanted it to be. My 200mm lens was zoomed all the way.

It was a 2 second exposure at f5.6.

Me too. I doubt it is the system specs.

Try killing off any extra background processes you have running. If you have a shed load of tray icons in the bottom right then you probably have more stuff running than you actually need.

I don’t appear to be able to broadcast. I hit the key I’ve bound and there’s no indication that my voice is getting out.

Unless of course Spunker & Wipers were ignoring my “Testing, testing, 1, 1, 2, 1, 2” utterances 🙂

When I speak, should Ventrillo show something that indicates who is speaking? I.e,. Like TS does by highlighting the name of the speaker in the use list?
