ParticipantThat’s it sent buddy, I’m not sure how you claim it think you will get an e-mail to your steam registered account. Enjoy and merry xmas 🙂

ParticipantObviously, I’m one of these new guys. I joined XDC specifically to get some regular guys to play BFBC2 with. Since being here, I’ve had some good times in other games, TF2, CoH, Alien Swarm even. Nothing has changed in that respect, I’m here to play games with a regular group of people and co-ordinate my efforts with voice comms in order to get more from games, rather than playing lone wolf in them.
I don’t mind installing software required to be in contact with the clan, have it start on windows startup, meaning if there is a game brewing, an IRC shout or whatever could go out.

ParticipantActive online as much as the wife permissions my access.
PC only, consoles are gay, we’ve been through this 🙂
BFBC2, Black Ops, and some quality minecraft time.
Best way to contact me is via steam, or you can use the stalker signal, its a giant light that can be shone into the sky above Edinburgh, somewhat like the bat signal, depicting an arrest warrant.
Mostly you, streff, anobiz and some rats…. and a cunt

ParticipantHere is a teaser pic of my current base.
It is a large part shpere, I have a trainstation on the left side of it with a bridge you can see. The trainstation is very complicated with some ridiculous redstone wiring allowing me to press a button to select one of 10 locations and the minecart will take me there, there is much more, but I have a lot more work to do before I show it all off.
Actually, one more for the road, this is the inside. You can see the train station as the tube slightly on the right hand side, the block that is slightly to the left is the main entrance, with a complicated air lock style set of 12 doors to get in and out. There is an upper ring on the inside that goes to a centre point and atm, just grass on the ground, I have a storage section with about 40 double chests full of crap, and I have a large monster trap that has taken quite some time to build on a seperate island. It all looks quite bland just now but I’ve been working on the actual structure more than any decorations. Not really played in a few weeks as I’ve not been at work to get much done.

You could probably calculate that on the PC better than the PS3… I will give you that much!
Lol, I will stick with my original plan for picking up loose women in pubs. All i need to do is take screen prints of my creations in minecraft and sit and explain to the women how complicated they are and I’m basically garaunteed sex. They will be gushing torrents as soon as I show them the screen shot.

Please spec me a fully working PC which I can buy new for less than £279, which will play all these games in DX 11.
I am using this top range PS3 as comparrison. I am sure I can find one cheaper, but think you need as much help as possible.
Extra points if you can get a Blu Ray Player in there.
Many thanks in advance
You are right, you probably can’t get a top of the range gaming PC for £280, that’s why I said £350 and that the prices were comparable (factor a few games in) not exact. Squabling over £70 is a waste of time, considering the product you’d got for £350 is worth far more than the extra £70 you pay over and above a PS3.
Whilst I conceed the point that for people not willing to splash out an initial £70 and would rather be raped far far more for game within the 1st 6 months probably would be better with a console, anyone who has any sense would buy a PC. It’s gotten to the stage of the argument that no matter how many valid points both myself and Matt make, you both are too stubborn, as we are, to accept each others view point. I know me and matt are right, the prices are comparable, especially with a few games. I know me and matt are right that the PC is far better value for money. I know we are right when talking about the graphical performance you would expect per £ spent.
I unerstand if you want to chill in front of the TV, play a few games with mates, the PC is not the solution. I understand that devs are pouring more money into the lowest common denominator that is the console market, but that doesn’t mean it’s a superior platform. I’m sure if we hadn’t got to this stage, you may even be tempted to admit that.
Anywho, you arguments are all crap. When you pay for a console, you get 4 year old hardware producing 7 year old graphics. Pay a little more and you can get a modern gaming machine that is far more flexible.

The cost of building this is within the budget range of your average console gamer, and easily less than the cost of next generation consoles on release (judging from the price of the XBOX 360 and PS3). When you take the price of games into consideration, we’ve already discussed how quickly any saving evaporates in taking a budget/lightweight console.
So in summary, the cost argument shouldn’t be an issue for anyone here, I’ve just proven how cheaply it can be done, and if I can do it, I dare say even Turks could do it.
This,
Simply put, the prices are comparable, the graphical cababilities, range and volume of games, the fact you can actually control yourself in FPS games with actual accuracy makes PCs a far supperior choice.
PCs are clearly supperior.
Also, snow=awesome=day of work.

Got me PC up and running for a short while as I’m in between windows versions. Took the time to watch those vids. The graphics can only be described as shit. I mean really? Those are the vids you think will convince people that the graphics on a console are great?
Dug around for this:

These tech demos, will easily be run with full graphical detail on todays mid ranged cards such as the one in the OP.
If you can’t see the difference between this and the xbox graphics, then consoles probably are best for you. 🙂
PCs are clearly superior.

ParticipantI’ve not seen much of it. I have very fond memories of GT1 and 2 on the PS1 but I’ve not played any more recent. I’ve no doubt it looks fucking awesome though, I hear there’s over 1000 cars available to choose from.

A top of the range graphics card (and the hardware need to support it) will buy you 15 PS3’s at the price I paid 🙂
Btw… I would call this discussing rather than arguing… 🙂
You cunts
I just bought a top of the range graphics card. I got the HD5870, one of the very top graphics cards available, for £180. That, at the price you paid, is 2.5 playstation 3s. I would gladly have my graphics card over 5 of the useless machines. My PS3 currently sits under the telly in my bedroom. I use it exclusivly to stream media to my TV in my bedroom, as that’s all it’s good for.
Now you paied £70 for your PS3 you say, 15x £70 is what about £1050 or something. I see no available cards on the market for that price. If we are just making numbers up as seems to be the case, well I could buy 327 top end PCs for the price of 2.8 Playstation 3s, an XBOX360 and 3 months subsciption to XBOX Live.
🙂
You jobbie robber
edit…. D’oh, just read your post properly. We are talking about a capable gaming PC. When I buy a new PC and build it from scratch, I will usuallly pay about £1.5k for it. I don’t do it very often as this will last me a long time. I do this because I want to, I don’t buy a lot of stuff that other people do so I treat myself. Matt has kindly pointed that that he could build a very capable gaming PC, that will play the very latest games, at the very top graphical settings at full HD for less thatn £350. Less than the price of a PS3 when it first came out.
-1 to me for failing to fully read your post.
PCs are better value for money, there is no competition.

ParticipantNo mate, I think it only refers to work colleagues. I managed 1 hour 49 mins without being a prick at work, then failed. But only 1 breach so far, think I may avoid bankruptcy today after all.

I assume you are posting vids of XBOX360 game footage. Unfortunately, I cannot view these videos at work and currently, perhaps ironicly, my pc is bust. However, posting footage of XBOX360 gameplay will not sway anyone. I have a PS3, XBOX360 and Wii in the house (which I will not play, even though my PC is broken). I am completely familiar with the graphics, I remember seeing it when DirectX 9.0c first came out on the PC in August 2004. Please also post the absolue latest PC graphical tech demos in comparrison if you wish to go down this road.
Fake edit: Nearly forgot… asshat.

ParticipantAfter a quick word with Matt about his internet arguing technique, I feel I will help this thread out with some general internet arguing advice.
Please view the below image:
It is important when arguing on the internet to stick to the bottom 3 tiers in this chart. If the argument is very, very important to you, it is acceptable to go to tier 4, but only in very special circumstance.
I found that Matt was being far too clear and concise. Not only that, he was leaving room for counter arguments to exist, along side his own opinion. I hope the above information will help greatly in this thread.
